Show me your Dessert Party!

Wow, I had no idea people actually had a seperate occasion for desserts!

Is this a Disney thing only? Or do lots of people do it, and I'm not aware...lol

Just wanted to say DO NOT feel bad if you stick with the cheapest menu. That is what we did and i was really apprehensive about it thinking that it would just look cheap, but it didnt at all! the build a brownie buffet dessert set up was AMAZING! everything was great, people are still raving about it.

Hi - thanks for posting! this is a really helpful post! :thumbsup2

I was wondering if the smallest menus would look cheap! Although, was the build a brownie buffet an add on? I didn't see that on the Childhood Memories buffet (which I believe is the cheapest menu).

Do you have any photos of the food at your DP?

thanks again!!
Leah

Instead of centerpieces we had glow glasses (wine and beer)

They were $5 a piece.

This isn't a good picture, but it shows off the glowing:

We brought our own glow necklaces and blankets for our guests.

I didn't have photographers there, because it was the night before; which in my opinion was a mistake, I don't have good pictures of the event - but oh well.

Joanna, Thanks for posting the pics of the glow glasses. we are going to have glow bowls for our "build a sundae" DP. I'm excited!

How much are the glow bowls? That sounds really cool. Are you getting them from disney?

I had a bar. It cost $100 for the bartender, and the drinks were BOC. I would not recommend it because I don't think really anyone drank. Then again, it was June and hot as hell so alcohol isn't really appealing. Maybe if your wedding is in more mild temperatures, it will make sense.

I also had glow necklaces and the glow cube cylinders. Pics are in my TR.

The $5 for the glasses, is that just to rent?

unfortunately i don't have any good pictures of the set up. it came with a platter of fresh fruit, 4 different flavored brownies, chocoate mousse, vanilla mousse, whip cream, nuts, jimmies, and i think a couple different toppings were on the table. it was on the normal DP menu options and it was 22.00 per person. i hope this help :thumbsup2

We had our rehearsal/dessert party in the lower UK starting at 8:00 PM until 10:30!! And, we had food along with a full open bar for our guests!! They had everything and didn't run out of anything!! And listen, we took all of our wedding guests to this and everyone said it was the best wedding they had ever been too.... and our wedding was the next day! After Illuminations it doesn't matter what they ate or drank!!! :-)

Has anyone done a Fantasmic desert party? How much did it run and what did it include? Pictures would be great. Thanks

Oh my gish, this is gorgeous and exactly what I have been invisioning in my head. Would you mind if I showed DFTW your pics so they can have a better idea of what I am looking for? I always had the picture in my head, but could never put it into words. Now - I can show them. If it is OK with you, of course.

bump as I am looking for dessert party decor ideas-thanks

I am especially interested in chairs. Torn between regular plastic chairs or doing chair covers.-thanks

I have one pic of the build-your-own brownie buffet at a fellow DIS bride's DP:

Here's a non-wedding Fantasmic! DP for ya...

The setup is on the patio at the back of the amphitheater, behind all the benches. The patio is divided into a smaller area and a larger one. Both areas have railings that separate them from the main walkway running between the patios and the crowds.

View from the big patio to the small one:

The view is OK - the lighting rigs kinda block it but, as you say, you don't get wet! :thumbsup2

These photos were taken standing at the railing, so about as close as you can get (but they were taken with an iPhone, which accounts for their low quality!):

Both patios have a $250 venue rental fee and a $750 food and beverage minimum. The small one holds up to 40 people, while the large one can hold 40 to 100. There is also a $75 setup fee and then a $12.95 viewing fee for each person who doesn't have park admission.

Hope this helps!

Here are the desserts we had at our wedding DP...

Chocolate Peanut Butter Marshmallow Squares, Florida Lemon Bars, Brownies, and some Oatmeal Cookies off to the right

...And at our anniversary DP:

Chocolate-covered Strawberries, Chocolate Peanut Butter Marshmallow Squares, Panhandle Pecan Tarts

Butterfinger Bread Pudding (*not* good - maybe if they'd remembered the creme anglaise it would have been less dry and bland? :confused3 )
