If you look at the thread at the top of the Dis Unplugged board, the majority said that price was the most important factor. The December date is the lowest pricing during all of 2010.

You also have to keep in mind that availability is an issue.

If your kids are out of school, you are looking at double or even triple the price and crowded ships. This offers far less flexibility.

We looked at June, July and August and they are just ridiculously priced. As we asked your opinion and the majority said lower prices, we went with that. Had we picked summer dates and the cost was three times as high, we would have people ask us if we were crazy.

I'm sorry this doesnt work for you.

Sorry, it doesn't work for us, or ANY FAMILIES WITH KIDS IN SCHOOL!!!!!

Maybe I am mis-remembering... but I thought someone said it was going to be during a family friendly time?? Who can go at that time of year with kids in school??

Just like the one coming up, hope you enjoy the kidless cruise...

We had the Toy Story Mania Meet at the exact same time last year and there were many, many children there.

I can only give the explanation as to why the date was chosen.

It's the best I can do.

Well, I would agree that for many families with children/teachers in school (including us) this does not work. Many have already voiced that in this thread. As sad as I am about that, the fact is that the PodCast crew has reasons for the timing which have been well explained (not that they HAD to explain, but they did anyway).

Another fact is, they don't really owe anyone any consideration when they pick a date...their cruise, their date. They were nice enough to ask for input (which was overwhelming on the side of 'save money') and planned accordingly.

I am guessing that cost will always win over vacation time, so I am just holding out hope that in 10 years, when I have an empty nest, they will still be doing these cruises and maybe then I too will have 'fun on a boat!':banana::banana:

Wonder which Twilight book will be celebrated then.... :)

Just got off the phone with Disney. We have something else MAJOR to announce on the podcast cruise. I'm sliding off my chair I'm so excited about this!!! Some of you might want to think about being out in California during the week of June 15th. That's all I'm going to say right now. OMG!!!!

Pete

I'll be out in California at that time!!! :cool1:

I was so hoping to get a shot at this one. But, we booked a 7 day from 11/27 - 12/4/10 (Western) with our incentive cruise from buying BLT. Oh well, from 12/12 - 12/16 would be DDs last week at school before break with the big Christmas show on the Thursday night. She would be heartbroken to miss that, so we will have to pass. (I was tempted to move my incentive cruise...). So, here's hoping for a Podcast cruise in 2011.

Wow. :sad2:

I understand the disappointment, but please remember there is no way they can please everyone. If you weren't as upset as you obviously are, someone else would be. I'm very sure they are not trying to exclusionary when picking the next cruise date or trying to avoid having kids on it. I really wanted to go on the 2011 cruise, I most likely can't swing that date, but I truly hope every that can has a wonderful time and I'm certainly not angry about the date chosen. Other than the Podcast team living on the ship year around and letting us join them whenever we can make it, they really have to go with the majority, cheapest price was the majority request. Pretty simple IMHO.

Pete did post on FB that he is never leaving the Walt Disney Suite :lmao:

That is just not fair... It actually may work out for many families with children in school,it just unfortunately doesn't work for your family.

There are families who home school, there are families with children on year round school and there are families who are willing to take their kids out of school. I certainly would and did if I found it to be beneficial to my family and my children.. My boys were both 4.0 students, both went to college and both are doing extremely well as young adults and I more than once pulled them out of school for something I thought was right for us. I did it when they were in Elem school and in HS. That was my choice and the right choice for us. You choosing the opposite is your choice and the right choice for your family.

Please don't blame the Podcast team for this. They are offering an opportunity to do something different, at a different time of the year and it is up to each person to decide what is best for them... I couldnt got this year due to other commitments and you never saw me blame them because I couldn't go..
