We are thinking of trying Biergarten (maybe for lunch) since everyone tells us its just so good but here is the problem... I've never had German food that I've liked :( I don't eat sausage (or anything else that has even been ground and/or shoved in a skin) and I'm kind of afraid there won't be anything I'll like. The menu on allears isn't exactly descriptive either. Could anyone offer some advise? How's the chicken?? And what about veggies or salads or anything?

Thanks pixiedust:

I say give it a try. We were pleasantly surprized in December when we went for dinner. At dinner they had a chicken cutlet and very good bratwurst (alot like a hot dog) the salads were tasty and desserts wonderful. Go for it.

DH and I tried it for the first time last Dec and really enjoyed it. They had a wonderful selection of cold salads, bread and cheese and the hot meats were very good.

I'm with you on the sausage issue. But I love the Biergarten. The chicken was good, the salads were good, the noodles were good. The desserts are awesome. The atmosphere is very fun and lively. It's one of my favorites. We even had a introverted vegetarian who enjoyed the whole experience.

I don't know if this will tip the scales for you or not,but they have a wonderful dessert bar

When my DH suggested Biergarten on our last trip, I was hesitant - German food is not my favorite. We took the whole family and really enjoyed it! My two DS's and I avoided the sausages but really enjoyed the roast pork, cold salads and spaetzle. The desserts were tasty too, but honestly the best thing was sitting with the other diners and getting to know them. They were a lot of fun, and very tolerant of (in fact, seemed to enjoy :confused3 ) our kids! Later that day, we saw them two or three more times in Epcot and each time everyone was pleased to see each other! Enjoy! :thumbsup2

they have some normal, roast chicken and i think pork type food. we thought the food was good( although i like German food) and it was someplace i thought everyone could find something they liked ( especially raspberry Florentine cookies and they also have the infamous pretzel bread)

The mention of dessert does sweatin' the pot a little :scratchin I think we are going to give it a try. Now what is this I hear about sitting with other families?? I hope there is lots of hard alcohol around :drinking1

That's one of the reasons I don't want to eat at the Biergarten. I don't want to sit with people I don't know.. i'm a very friendly person and everything but it just seems awkward to have a family dinner with other families at your table, lol.

We were planning on eating there. What exactly do they have for entertainment? the menu sounds good. yum

Biergarten has a floor show every half hour with a oompah band. They are great! They play various instruments, teach you toasts, and play some polkas and invite you to dance on the dance floor  The decor is wonderful, like you are sitting outside in a german courtyard during Oktoberfest, complete with building facades and a moon :goodvibes

The tables seat 8, and the idea is to create an Oktoberfest atmosphere, so you will likely be sat with another group. Never fear, there is plenty of room to "ignore" your table friends if you choose not to visit.

The food is very good, and has plenty of plain meat choices (rotissere chicken, breaded chicken cutlet). The cold salads are incredible, the cucumber salad is to die for! And mmmm, warm pretzel bread, I could just eat a plate of that! Great, now I'm craving Biergarten!

:tink:

I don't love sitting with strangers either but we have always lucked out at this restuarant and the food is very good. My mom, who is from Germany, loves this place because of the music and the great selection of beer. I think you will have a great time, the chicken and vegetable selections are wonderful, since I don't like sausages either. Let us know how you liked it if you do go!

Anyone know what kind of drinks are served? Drinks are not included in the price right? Do they have mixed drinks or just beer?

I think there's enough "normal" things on the buffet to appeal to most people. DH and I went last year and have decided that it is a MUST for every trip to Epcot. The chicken schnitzel (breaded chicken cutlet) is very good as was the cuke salad. Do not even get me started on the dessert bar!!!! :worship: The oompah band was a hoot! DH and I don't tend to be super social, but there was enough room at our table to "ignore" our tablemates (I don't intend that to sound mean! They were perfectly content to ignore us, too! :) )

We went for lunch a couple years ago (a late lunch, around 3:30) and we didnt even get seated with anyone else..the place wasnt very crowded possibly because it was in between times. Worked great for us

Pop etc is additional and another thing that was pretty good was their chicken noodle soup!

They also serve roasted chicken, schnitzel, pork roast and at dinner-they serve sauerbraten and fish as well. I'd recommend going for dinner.

I have not been to Biergarten (we have reservations though for our trip). I lived in Germany for 6 years though and it is the best food in the world (in my opinion). My favorite german food is kartofel salat (german potato salad) and I love wursts (sausages) on brochen (hard bread roll) with spicy mustard and gluehwein (a hot spicy red wine drink....very good). I love a good schnitzel and there was this incredible german noodle salad my neighbor used to make but all the ingredients are german so I never quite figured out just what was in it.
I cannot see anyone not liking german food. It is YUM!

My husband and I tried it in December and enjoyed it! (My husband is a fairly picky eater, too.)
