Should we take Boat or Bus to DHS after eating?

Hi,
we will be eating at Captains Grille after a day at AK park.

We won't have a car so we will take the WDW bus to YC at the end
of the day.
We are staying at AKL.

Coming back to AKL after eating
I thought it would be best to return to our resort from DHS because we don't have Hoppers.

Should we take a bus from YC or the boat over to DHS?
then we would catch our resort bus from there.

We won't be in a rush but does anyone have an idea which is faster
bus to DHS or Boat to DHS?

Thanks for your help.

It is a nice 20 minute walk along the waterway. That would be my first choice after a big meal.

I agree with PP, walk is likely to be the fastest way to go. I don't think buses normally run from the YC to the DHS. You may be waiting days for a bus.:)

A bus to the AK then bus to AKL is the best way to go. Only works if your dinner is early.

JMO but dinner at Captain Grille makes more sense if you're spending the day at DHS or at EPCOT. You're spending the day at AK. I'd either go for dinner at the AKL or at a MK resort.

There is no direct bus from YC to DHS. The only way between the 2 is boat or walking.

I second the option to walk over to DHS. From YC if you're strolling it could take 30 min. but is a very nice walk. You come out right by the busses at DHS, you could then hop the AKL bus. If time is important, I agree with the other poster - take the bus to AK from YC, then bus from AK to AKL - BUT depending how late it is, there won't be busses running any longer from AK. Keep in mind AK usually closes at 5, and I think busses only run 1 hour after park closing. You might have to take a bus to MK, then to AKL (back tracking so it won't be quick!)

I think the busses won't be running anymore by the time we eat dinner.
We will either walk or take the boat. Does the boat take longer than walking?

That's a tough question. The boats are SLOW. I do think though that they will be faster than walking from YC to DHS. At least you could relax the whole time, too. It's anywhere from 15-20 min. by boat. If it's really late, say 9 or 9:30 when Illuminations is, you will see the higher fireworks from Epcot on the boat ride.

There are never buses running between YC/BC and DHS..ever. The only way to get there is to use a Friendship boat or to walk.
If you use the boat....the boat will go to the S/D after it leaves the YC, then it will continue on to DHS. It should take about 20 mins. BUT...this does not include any wait time you may have. If the boat is just leaving, it could take 15+ mins for the next one to come!!
If you decide to walk, it's pretty quick....shouldn't take more than 20 mins. I make it in 15 from BW. The walk is very nice along a well lit paved walkway, along the canal.

If there is a boat at the YC Marina, getting ready to head to Epcot, hop on it. It will stop at BW next. Get off there, and then cut past the Village Green and go through the tunnel area off to the right after you pass Wyland Gallery. Go through the pool area, and straight back...you'll see the walkway to DHS there. This is a nice shortcut.

I love the boats but they really are slow. All depends on your mood. If you aren't in a rush I'd take the boats. You can sit outside on the back and enjoy the night if the weather is nice. At the end of the day I've done enough walking.

I have changed my park day to eat at Capt. Grille on DHS day.
We will leave right after the Block party and eat an early dinner at
CG. After dinner we will head back to DHS for Fantasmic.
It's weird how the Resort in that area don't have a direct bus,
even POR has a bus that goes to DTD and a boat.
We already have plans to eat at 2 world showcase restaurants on
our Epcot days.

Is the walkway easy to find from DHS going to YC?
Is there a sign with an arrow?

Very easy. As you exit DHS, head off to the left vs the right where the buses are. You will see the boat dock, down to the left. Keep walking along the canal area, with the parking lot to your right. You will walk past a bunch of benches, then see a sign pointing down towards the canal....follow the sign and keep walking along the sidewalk.

There is no need for buses running between DHS and the Epcot resorts. They already have two methods of transport...boat and foot. The boats run much more frequently than the boats between POR and DTD..not really the same thing at all. There are actually times when those boats don't even run!! Depends on the time of year. If you added up the time spent waiting for the bus, then the ride to the resorts and then all the stops along the way, it would take much longer to get to YC/BC than the boat or walking. A bus would stop at BW, S/D and then YC/BC. No way would they ever split up a route like that.

On a couple of occasions when I was staying at BWV they put a bus on between DHS and the Epcot resorts because of weather problems (lightning) or crowds with the boats.

When we were at POR boats ran every 15 min., once one boat was filled another boat would come and fill. So the boat to Epcot resort run more often than that? Has anyone timed how long the boats take to arrive at YC/beach club--they have to stop along the way?

They generally run every 15 to 20 minutes apart.

The route is:

Epcot
Boardwalk
YC/BC
Swan/Dolphin
DHS
Swan/Dolphin
YC/BC
Boardwalk
Epcot

I'd say from DHS to YC/BC, about 15 to 20 min.

Yep, I've heard of that as well. But it is really an extraordinary situation and not one that can be counted on.

The Epcot/DHS boats run every 15-20 mins. It takes about 25 mins for them to get from Epcot to DHS. They run pretty much the same pattern all year long. But, those boats to DTD from POR-FQ do not run the same pattern all year long. I have been there when they weren't running at all!!! A huge disappointment to us. At the slower times of year, the boat times are cut back to fewer than normally expected.

So is 25 mins. a full Round Trip?
We were at POR in Value season and had no problems with the boats
coming regularly.

25 minutes is ONE-WAY from Epcot to the Studios. The boat schedule from POR to Downtown Disney is irrelevant.

We were also discussing how the DTD boats work and that POR offers bus service to DTD as well...so why don't the Epcot resorts offer bus service to DHS. That's how the whole DTD boat system discussion got started.

we will probably take the boat to YC from DHS and walk
back since the boat seems to be longer on the return trip.
We have to get back for a decent seat for Fantasmic.
