Should we still go with Hurricane Dennis on his way?

We will be arriving in Orlando on Sunday afternoon. Seems like every news channel has a different path for this hurricane.

Most of the paths have it heading for the mouth of the Mississippi, or thereabouts. WDW should be minimally affected (maybe some rain) if at all.

You will have lots of wind and lots of rain. Even though the track goes through the Gulf at this point, the outlying areas of the storm will be affecting Central Florida. Keep in mind that the track could turn or change in any direction, but at this time, unless it stalls, probably not. However, whether this is enough to cancel your vacation is really up to you. If it were me, I'd just bring my Mickey poncho and have fun. It takes a lot for WDW to close.

I was at WDW last month when Arlene splashed her way through. Put on your Mickey poncho and enjoy the parks. hardly anyone else was out while it was raining and I had a great time.

On the current track Orlando will get little if any effect. We're actually evacuating from Marathon to Orlando (Royal Pacific at USF) tomorrow. Hope our house is here when we get back!

My brother in law lives in Marathon. I'm worried because I don't think he will leave. I also have a BIL in Pensecola Beach. He's still recovering from last summer.

We went last year when Ivan was on his way in. The weather was great. Very little rain but the wind felt great. It wasn't too much and helped keep it from getting to hot.No one was there till the weekend. April

I asked the same question in a previous thread and we are still going. I have never been in a hurricane or a tropical storm so I am a little nervous. We are leaving Sunday Staying overnight in Valdosta GA and then Heading to disney monday AM. I hope most of it is passed by then. I don't like driving in rough weather so I am hoping it isn't to bad on the road going down there. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

We are suppose to enter the park Monday morning and will be staying offsite Sunday night. We will be driving from North Louisiana and have decided to leave Saturday morning. I am hoping they do not close I-10 through Alabama and Florida Coast. Anyone have any info on road closures during past hurricanes?

You all need to realize that last year (2004) the hurricane season was the worst it has been in over 100 years, and EVERY comment I have read from people that were at WDW said that was the place to be. All who were there said the resorts treated them great, food, activities, etc. Only during the worst part (a couple of hours) were they asked to stay in their rooms. Then the next day, the parks were open, the airports were open, like nothing happened. If I were living in Florida and one was heading my way, I would seriously consider booking a room at a WDW resort.

All models suggest that Dennis will have hit the northern Florida coast or Louisiana by Sunday, so by Monday you should be ok to drive.
