We will be staying at the AKL on Feb 8th for one night then moving on DVC pts to BCV. Do you think it is worth staying at AKL at all considering the hassel of resort changing? We have booked a Savannah room and really hope to see animals. Has anyone stayed in these accomodations and is willing to comment on the view? I don't think we should go to the parks on this saturday because we won't get to the WDW area until around 2 PM. My friend disagrees with me and thinks we should attempt a park. We have 4 day park hopper tickets and will have exactly 4 days at Disney World, but I know the tickets never expire. My point is why stay at AKL if we are not going to hang around long enough at the resort to view any animals. Is there enough to do at the resort for 5 and 11 year old to do?

We love AKL. I think there is easily enough to do there to enjoy a half day, swimming, watching animals, storytelling, dinner, etc. Save a day on your tickets and enjoy the Lodge. :)

I just LOVE AKL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would stay at the lodge and save your day. Have dinner at Jiko or Boma. The drinks by the pool are soooo good!!!!

AKL is the only WDW Resort that still takes my breath away every time I walk in.

As far as going to the parks, yes, go, with park hoppers you can always go to Epcot afer the park you are at closes.

Our family stayed there and all enjoyed it. AKL as a couple of nice features. First and most important is the animals all around it. With the view you are getting you have a good chance of seeing them right out your room. But there are views all around the resort. This is the one feature that seperates AKL from all other resorts inside and outside of Disney. For our family it was the reason why we stayed there and we were not disappointed.

The other feature is a smaller one and that is the Bomo resturant. Because we like exotic food so much this place was a a real pleasant suprise for us and I really recommend it.

A negative of the AKL that many site is the transportation. We did not find this to be a major problem. The seculsion of the AKL, although a negative to some, is also a positive to others.

I think its a wise choice to try it for one night. Have fun.

I love AKL, too. I think you can easily spend a half day there exploring, watching the animals, viewing the museum quality exhibits, listening to the storyteller, swimming, etc. Just spending time on your balcony is wonderful - we saw lots of animals, and one fo the best times to see them is when they feed them at dusk. Just ask at the front desk when this is. Enjoy!

We stayed at AKL last weekend after 7 days at POR. I am so glad we did. It was wonderful! It would be worth being there just one day, and remember it is so close to both AK, MGM and Epcot--very short bus rides. SO much better bus service than POR there's no comparison.
There is very little animal activity in the middle of the day, and you could easily pop over to AK or MGM for the parade. Boma gets two thumbs up from me also. One of the best meals I've had at WDW, and it's the SAME PRICE as CRT breakfast!!!
One alte night thing that went over really big with DH and DS-7 was the 10pm animal viewing through special night vision goggles. They thought that was really cool.
Go for it! You'll get an idea whether you want to stay again for longer. We will definitely stay again.

Another vote for staying in the lodge and skipping the parks. We just stayed for 2 nights at a Savannah view room,we did no parks and we loved it. As a matter of fact, one day we went do downtown disney spent 2 hours and we could not wait to get back.:p

We also had a 4 day hopper and even though we were there 6 days we only used 3 days. So, now we have one day and one option left..What better excuse to go back??

We are already planning our next trip and are planning to stay 3 days at POFQ to go to the parks and 3 days at AKL (Probably concierge) to relax!!!;)

So go enjoy AKL and relax!!!. You are about to enjoy a unique and different experience.Another side of Disney that I guarantee you will love!!
