Should we skip Mickey's Toontown Fair?

When we go, DDs will be 4yo and 1.5yo. 4yo is not good being 'done' with things, for example, we go to the park, time to leave, not good. Looking over the list of things in Toontown, I'm thinking that may be the case here. This is their 1st trip, so they won't know its there. 4yo will be able to go on BTMRR, little one can't go on Barnstormer anyway. But then, I'm thinking that they'd love to see Mickey & Minnies houses. If we do go, what time of day is best? What do you think?

Toontown is worth doing. The kids will like looking through the houses, but it's also a great character meeting area if they're into that. We've met everyone from Mickey to the Princesses to Goofy to Cinderella's mouse friends there.

As far as not being good with finishing things, I find it helps to make it not about leaving something, but about talking up whatever we're headed to. That way, they're looking forward to something specific (Small World, the hotel pool, whatever) instead of only thinking about leaving. Kids that age really really don't get that leaving one thing means going to something else unless you present it that way. May or may not solve the problem entirely, but it can help.

You can't miss Mickey and Minnie's houses! Your 4YO will love them! They are hands on and the gardens are so much fun!! And Donald's boat is a lot of fun too! Trust me, you whole family will enjoy it!

When DD#1 was 18 mo, she LOVED Toontown. Everything from the simple little play area (and sitting on the little ducks), to running around the squirting water area, to wandering throught Mickey and Minnie's house (especially Minnie's kitchen). We didn't wait in line for meeting the characters, because she was still too scared to do anything but "high-5" the characters she met. Not sure why she liked it so much -- maybe because it was more "familiar" to her (i.e., playground, fountain, etc.) and had more toddlers her age?

As is usual, if you want to meet characters or go on Barnstormer, go early (I think they open 10am, after the rest of park has been open for a while), or late (because more toddlers are leaving by then). If you just want to do the things I mentioned above, it doesn't really matter if its crowded.

I would wonder whether no matter where you went, your 4 yo would not want to be "finished" with WDW...

The best time to go to Toontown is during the afternoon parade, around 3pm. That will give your kids a chance to play in Minnie's kitchen without too much hassle. I'd think the promise of an ice cream in, say, Tomorrowland might be a good excuse to leave. There's an often overlooked walkway between Toontwon and Tormorrowland, by the way. (I, too, have a kid that's "not done' and can often have a meltdown when it's time to leave.)

I would hate for you to miss Toottown with a 4 yo. My 5 and 8 yo's really loved it!

Toontown Fair is great for the kids - my DD2 loved it. Everything is child sized and child friendly. Be sure to check out Minnie's freezer for the cheese chip ice cream!

YOU CAN'T MISS TOONTOWN!!!

DH and I even went to Toontown on our trip without the girls last year!! It's so bright and cheery!!

I agree, you should really consider going there. My boys love Toontown!! They are 5, 3 and 1. I would try to go there right when it opens at 10am, and get in line for Barnstormer first! Then go through the houses and do the character meets. Have fun!!
