**should we ship diapers, formula & babyfood to resort**

I shipped a box through the USPS for our trip 7/2 and we didn't get what we shipped when we arrived! I shipped 32 diapers, wipes, swim diapers, snacks, juice boxes and an umbrella. We ended up with a woman's shoe, a few snacks, a case of wipes and a rubber cupcake pan! Oh, and a letter from the USPS saying there was a problem with their machinery and they did the best they could repairing the contents of our box. NOT! We had to get diapers from the gift shop. They are a sm. pack of Huggies...10 diapers...for $9.60! Swim diapers are sold individually for about $1.50 each. The only size diaper they have are S, M, and L. L = size 4. DS (20 mos) wears a size 5. Poor baby was squeezed into diapers that were a tad too small! Next time I would either rent a car to go shopping or use wegoshop.com. The people here have spoken highly of them. My box only cost $16 to ship from NJ to FL, but it isn't worth it if it isn't going to make it in one piece!

I REALLY suggest wegoshop. If you have any questions, call Becca at the number on their website. I don't think you could ship all of the diapers you'll need for $15. Also, do a DISBoards search on wegoshop.com -all I've ever seen are glowing posts regarding their service. These people really seem to take pride in their work and know that word of mouth (or computer!) gets them business.

I suggest Gooding's (www.goodings.com), a local small supermarket. I never used wegoshop, so I have nothing at all bad to say about them, but I loved using Gooding's. It's a flat $10 fee no matter how much you buy (there's a $50 minimum).

Unlike wegoshop, with Gooding's you don't have to schedule a delivery. They deliver to your resort's Bell Services, not to your room, so you don't need to wait for them in your room! When the delivery arrives at Bell Services, a Bell Services CM calls your room to see if you're there. If you're not there, they leave a message for you to call them, and they store your groceries for you. What makes this great is that Gooding's separately labels and bags refrigerator items and freezer items, so Bell Services will keep those items appropriately refrigerated/frozen while you're out playing.

Using Gooding's worked out very well for me (and only a $10 flat fee!). I especially liked not having any concern about when to schedule the delivery, since there was nothing for me to schedule or even think about!

Here is another alternative....

What we did this past June was to pack 1 suitcase with just diapers, wipers, and swim diapers. That way, at the end of the vacation, we basically had an "extra" suitcase for all of our souviners.

It worked for us. We used Magical Express to Disney and a towncar service back to the airport, so we didn't have to really worry about how many suitcases we brought.

Just a thought...

All these great ideas!! Now what am I going to do?!?!? I looked at Goodings and they didn't have a listing for diapers. Perhaps I wasn't looking in the correct place. The more I get to thinking about it, I actually may have to just pack the stuff, or mail it to the resort. Baby food will be one of the major items needed and this way I can just pick out exactly what she will be eating. The cost doesn't concern me as much as it not arriving. Maybe the extra suitcase isn't such a bad idea afterall.

Actually, the extra suitcase came in real handy. We used most - but not all - of the diapers we put in there. And when it came time to pack for our return home, we had that extra room for souviners and/or dirty clothes (packed in plastic bags).

I have done both at different times/trips--mailed a package and packed a bag with just the items we were planning to use up--snacks, diapers, etc.

The package arrived perfectly, not a problem. I used Priority Mail, it cost about $17 dollars, and arrived on time and in tact.

I prefer packing though. Every person with an airline ticket gets the baggage allowance--so even your kids get two checked bags each. (not infants that you hold without their own seats)
I'm sure you can fit everything you need into a suitcase. Of course, it's free, too!

My only problem is that I won't pack cases of water bottles, so we have to get those when we arrive!

Prior to wegoshop days we just used to pack a sturdy box (those xerox paper boxes from the copy machine at work are great) with the diapers, formula, etc and taped it secirely and checked it as baggage when we flew....never had a problem and it got there when we did.

Be aware that Goodings is very very expensive. The nice thing about wegoshop is that they will go to the store of your choosing. in the area (they can tell you what is around, I know for sure Publix and Albertsons are options). You could - conceivably - look at the sales for that particular store that week and make a list based on that. They made two stops for me with no extra charge because there was an Albertsons and an organic food store in the same shopping complex and I wanted things from both places.

When we were at WDW in April (dd 6 mos and ds 2 1/2yrs), we stopped on the way to the resort (had a rental car) for the diapers, wipes and baby food/snacks. This time I will be packing the diapers and wipes and whatever baby type food we need because I ended up with too much- we had a bunch of leftover diapers and jars of food (we missed a few meals, since dd was just starting on the solid foods it didn't impact her)- and had to find room to pack it to bring it home- I just couldn't throw it all out! I figure when we go in September, we will bring what we need and then have room for souvenirs or lighter luggage to go home! Both our kids have paid seats, so we can take up to 8 suitcases.

That was exactly my reasoning for doing what I did - pack everything in a suitcase and take it. That way, the amount of stuff you bring back decreases, while your luggage capacity increases. Whereas if you go there, THEN buy the diapers, you end up with extras and the amount of stuff increases while your luggage capacity stays the same.
