Should we rent a car?

My husband and I have been several times with no car and I don't recall it being a hassle to use the Disney transportation, but I'm wondering how difficult it will be with kids.
For example, if we're at our hotel (POFQ) and want to go to dinner at Ohana-how do we get there?

Thanks!

Take the bus to MK. From MK take the monorail to Poly or take the boat to Poly. If you've been with no car all this time, then you probably won't need it for your next trip with your children.

I for onelike rentting a car. I wanna be able to go as I please and anywhere as I please without waiting in line for the bus and I want to be able to sit down comfortably. But there are some times when I don't feel like driving then I take the bus. My children are 8 and 6. They do fine waiting in line (as long as it's not more than 20 minutes of wait time) and getting off/on the bus.

We always skip all the fireworks and the Spectromagic. We just don't want to stand in line for more than half hour to an hour of waiting for the bus.

You'd need to take a bus to MK and then hop the monorail over to the Poly ...that would be easiest. To go from resort to resort on WDW transportation the only way from FQ is to take a bus to one of the major parks and then hop a bus/boat or monorail to the next resort...leave at least an hour or more to get from door to door. It's always a bit easier to go resort to resort with a car....but do-able without one if you don't mind taking the extra time it will take to save the $$...personnally, the extra $$ would be worth it to me vs. all the extra time it will take if you'll be going resort to resort alot during your trip. If it's only going to be once or twice in a weeks time than maybe not. Only you can decide. Just keep in mind that you'll get a 3hr pass to park at the Poly....they haven't really got the space for you to park for the entire day if you want to go to a park afterward so taking WDW transport may be better if that's the plan. But to just go resort to resort for a meal and then going back to FQ afterward or moving the car afterward to the thempark parking lot...it may be well worth the expense of a rental car for the convenience factor. Keep in mind also that if you have a car and drive to the parks you'll still need to fold up the stroller (if you'll have one) to get on the trams.

All things to consider....decisions decisions....

I myself would rather rent a dog, but it is largely a matter of personal preference. I find dogs to be more affectionate, but on the downside they do require much more maintenance. Cats are more self-sufficient -- for one thing, they are self-cleaning. Whatever you decide, see if you can rent with an option to buy.
