We are staying off site at Marriott's Harbor Lakes with our 2yo during the first week of April.

We will have AP's

Thinking of maybe just booking a studio for one night (although we won't sleep there) just to be able to hang out at the pool and take advantage of any other amenities. Haven't figured out where yet. Either VGF, BLT, BWV, or BCV.

We have the points to spare. Would you do it or not? Another thing to consider is that we won't be able to get Magic Bands or FP+ because of staying off site. If we do decide to go the DVC route, would it be more advantageous to do on one of our first days?

Well, I wouldn't do it. I don't have points to burn and would feel like it would be a terrible waste. But if you don't feel this way I say go for it. ;)

Not sure if there is availability but the resorts you listed may be already booked by now.

surprisingly there was availability last night when I checked at BWV's and BLT's.

I've got the points so it's not an issue there. Probably a waste, but it would be fun!

If you have the points -- go for it. I've done 'similarly' when visiting Cabo San Lucas via cruiseship. To provide ourselves a relaxing day in Cabo, we booked one night of timeshare so that we could hang out at the resort pools, etc.

Sadly the plan didn't quite work out as we missed our port at Cabo due to a coastal storm. Oh, well. ;)

If you do it, and at the beginning, you'll get a band and access to FP+ (provided you link your AP) for your entire trip, not just the on-site stuff.

I know many who have done it and some who bought specifically for the option. Don't forget it also gives you the option of a single night for the DP, ? maybe the dlx plan in this situation.

Also keep in mind that a single night's points actually gets you access to the resort for two full days. Also gives you extra magic hours for those two days.

Do you do Marriott as a weekly rental or on points? Rather than leave a room unused, why not add an extra night? If you do a Sunday-to-Sunday with Marriott, you could use your DVC for the first Saturday and turn a 7-night trip into an 8-night.

We rent weekly from my parents. Dh and I haven't even had a chance to discuss. It was just a thought to spice up our trip
