Hi All,

We bought our ap's the first week of January. It was a fun week but soooo busy. So I was thinking we should fly up for a day, just me and the kids when hopefully the park is quiet. I'm a flight attendant so the flight is free and the passes are already paid for.

Weds. my daughter has a half day so that'd be a great day to pull her out of school ( my son isn't in school yet ). However, we'd have to fly into Burbank since car rentals are very expensive for some weird reason on Thursday in Orange County. It'd be a difference of $50 but a 45 min. drive vs. probably 20 minutes. Plus, we'd have to go on a 6:55 am flight or a 9:45 am. The first flight is a little to early and the second is a little too late. Plus, when we get back to Phoenix it'll be late and my daughter will have to get up for school at 7 am on Thursday.

If we go on Friday we can fly into Orange County because the car rentals are much cheaper on Friday then Weds. However, I'm worried the park will be packed with California residents who are buying that buy 1 get 2 days free ticket. The nice thing would be my kids could sleep in on Saturday. I just wonder if it's worth all the trouble if the park will be a zoo again.

Any thoughts?

Is this a one time deal or are you going to make this a fun habit? If just once Wednesday this week.

If you go again you go on a Wednesday the park will be closing at 8pm and opening at 10am if on a Friday 11pm or 12am and opening at 8 or 9am and you would get fireworks too and F! when it starts playing again. Spring Break and Summer will have long hours everyday.

Sure Fridays are more crowded, but that's the trade off, hours and entertainment.

Would a rental be cheaper than Super Shuttle or another company from SNA?

Friday the parks close early for the 5k and lots of people (including myself) will be visiting the parks because we're running the 1/2 marathon on Sunday.

Wow, I would've missed the 5k deal if you guys had not told me. That would've been awful! So it's settled then, Weds. it is!

If this goes well, I'll try it again. I sooooo love the mouse, that I'll go to great lengths to be there. haha.

Super Shuttle would be around $60 + tip and my rental car with tax is only $14!! It's an amazing rate so I feel like I need to take advantage, plus I'm trying to convince myself that since Burbank is such a small, easy airport it could save me the 20 minutes just getting through the airport. Orange County is small too but the Southwest gates have moved and it can be a hike. We'll see. I really wish I lived in So.Cal and could just drive over. Dare to dream...

Whoa... Nellie....
Care to share how you have such a deal on the rental car?

Geemo

Basically, by going out of Burbank instead of Orange County. My car is $11.95 + tax. We've been flying out of Orange County for years and I just decided to google how close Burbank would be. Then I stumbled upon a review stating that car rentals are cheaper in Burbank. They were right. If I remember correctly Orange County was about $62 and that was for a big truck. Economy cars, etc. were much higher!

We've flown into Burbank before. It's a very nice little airport. However, it is quite the drive down I5 to DLR. It shows on the map that it should be close - distance wise - but oh how deceptive that really is. There are parts of the 5 that are 2 lanes, no HOV lanes and traffic is BAD!

Are you sure it's worth the extra hour or more to get from Burbank to Anaheim??? I would choose the more expensive car rental - or take a taxi from SNA just to avoid flying into Burbank. Just my 2 cents.... :scared1:

Yes I have to agree. Once I started researching my route from Burbank I was seeing comments that the I5 has a ton of traffic. So, I went with a more expensive car rental and flew out of Orange County.

The park was empty yesterday! We had an amazing day. We were actually there 12 minutes before opening and we stayed until 5pm. I had a blast and I think I may have to try this again.
