Hi. Our 19 yr old DS wants to come with us on our 10th Anniversary trip (the WDW portion only, not the cruise) in Dec 05. Should we book two rooms, one for him and one for the rest of us 2 adults and 2dd's (6 & 8)? Or should we book a delux room that will sleep 5? He is 6'5" so he needs a real bed or large daybed. I would feel better if we were all together but only if the room is large enough. {DH is not biological father so we try very hard to NOT make any differenciations between him and dds}

Those of you who have stayed in AKL & WL delux rooms, is the extra sleeping space big enough? What about CR and GF? Or maybe connecting rooms someplace? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks! :cheer2:

What about getting two adjoining rooms and putting him in one bed and the two girls in another? That would give you a little more room. Even if the girls stay in your room I would rather have the two rooms. With 5 people an extra bathroom would be great. If they are adjoining you could keep the door open and make it seem like one big room.

Limmer, thanks for the fast reply! Yes, I think you are right that two rooms will be better. Do all the resorts have connecting rooms? I think that would make us all happy. You are right about having the two bathrooms!

Now I just need to figure out which resort :earseek:

Definetley 2 rooms. We just came back from connecting rooms at POP which was nice.

Hi:

We did the two room thing and it was great, one for hubby and I and the other for son and daughter, it worked out great, and yes we had a door in between. I think you have to request connecting rooms. But they are not guaranteed. We stayed at port orleans frenchquarter and loved it. Hubby and I had a corner room with two windows which was nice. Just loved the resort.

But we did a split and also stayed at the poly resort which is my all time favorite resort and all stayed in one room for a few days also. It was like having two vacations. Both were fine.

Deb.

If you decide to go with one room the deluxe room at the WL is quite a bit bigger than the deluxe room at the AKL. I have stayed in both and the WL Deluxe is more interesting with two queen beds in the bedroom and a seperate living room with a pull out sofa. The WL Deluxe would be great for you though having two regular rooms will give you even more space and two bathrooms.

Keep in mind that if you go with one room you will be charged an extra fee since there would be three "adults" (your son counts as an adult since he is 19yo) in the room. At a deluxe resort that charge would be $25/night.

I would got for two rooms at a value (if you're trying to keep the cost down) or a moderate. The two bathrooms would be nice and you can either sleep all the kids in one room, the girls in another (as long as it's connecting and the door is open, or just your son in one room. The nice thing about the connecting rooms are that you can put your younger children to bed and the rest of you can have another room to hang out in, watch tv, etc.

Would it be two rooms at a moderate or at a value? If it would be at a moderate resort, I'd go for the two adjoining rooms. If it would be a value resort, I'd probably go for one room at a deluxe.

I'd also be guided by how long I will spend in the resort. On a short trip, where most of my time will be spent in the parks, I would care less where I stay. If it will be a longer trip though, with more time spent at resort, the issue becomes trickier. If you are spending more time at the resort, then you may want more room to spread out and two rooms makes sense. On the other hand, if you are spending more time at the resort, the deluxes are great since they offer more to do and typcially have better pools/beaches.

That's why whether the two rooms will be at a moderate or a value would make a difference to me. The moderates have more to do than the values.

Having taken my niece and nephew (total of 3 kids), I would get two rooms at a moderate. CSR has a great waterslide and pool area. If you say that one room is for the kids, they will pretty much guarantee you connecting rooms. We really needed that extra bathroom. What is great about having two rooms is that the kids can go to bed and the adults can hang out in the other room. If you treat it as a suite and keep the doors open, your son won't feel like you are putting him in his own room alone.

We decided to do two rooms too. I have three children, 21,18 and 14. They are all adult size, my 14 year old is 5'10''. I was worried that the daybed would be too small for any one of us, but I really wanted to stay in a deluxe. (We are staying 11 days in June) I originally booked the Beach Club but my husband said either stay at a less expensive hotel or cut the days down to 7. So........ I changed to Wilderness Lodge and he was okay with it. I still might change to a moderate if and when the AP rates come out, but either way we have to do two rooms. I think two bathrooms and a regular bed for everyone is worth it. Oh, and on my confirmation it said "connecting rooms, guaranteed for families".

Good luck with your choice!
Linda
