my sis just moved to Miami. we will be visiting her in December, while there she wants us to to up to WDW for a few days, probably 3. In January 2015 we will be going to WDW for 3 days before our trip on DCL, then again in August 2015 we will go to WDW for probably 4 days before our trip on DCL, and once again in November 2015 we will go to visit sis in Miami and drive to WDW for a few days.
We would always stay on WDW property, we usually add the dining, if we are AP holders can we add dining to our stay? Would we get meal discounts as AP holders?
It is DH, DS (5) and myself, is becoming AP holders something that might be worth the $?

You can easily do the math but I believe with 4 somewhat short trips in a 365 day period you will come out ahead with an AP. Plus you get park hopper and free parking standard (in case you sneak in an extra trip and keep it cheap by staying off site)

I'd go with the AP. Good investment for the tickets alone. Especially with the short stays. You won't be getting much of a discount buying 2/3 days per trip.

oh wow, I just found out that their is a DLR/WDW annual pass, we are going to DLR in August of this year for 4 days and again in March of 2015, I would love to go in May too. The premier pas is spendy at $979 before tax.
So adding up how much it would cost us for our passes to both DLR and WDW.
Our total price of our passes would be $5643.06! That is just the planned trips! If we buy the premier passes 3 would be $2937 before tax, so I just might do it! Plus we could do a couple more trips to DLR (we live in Washington State) and next year will be the 60th anniversary too.

I better start saving!

I would get the AP.

And if you eat at the restaurants I would also grab a Tables in Wonderland card, 20% off food and alcohol at most places in WDW

With an AP it costs $75.

Tables in Wonderland price went up by $25. AP holders, Disney vacation club members cost is now $100. Florida residents that aren't pass holders or DVC members price is $125 .
Non-residents who are not AP holders or DVC members are not eligible for TIW.

If you take 2 or more trips within a 12 month period to WDW then it makes sense to get an AP. I'd stay away from TiW unless you plan to eat alot. It basically just saves you the tax, but you end up spending money on purchasing the card which offsets any savings. Even as a Florida resident the TiW card is $100.00 and I've never saved that much during my several trips within the year and always eating on property.

The best way to figure out costs is to sit down with paper and pencil. Figure how many days you will be in the parks during the year. Compare the cost of an AP vs non-expiring park hoppers (that would cover all your park days). I average 15 days a year....AP is the way for me to go. Then, figure what you would spend on food....add it up.i look at TiW as paying my tips. You probably have to spend at least $500 for food before the cost of TiW is covered. I'm sure someone here knows the break even point.

Definitely sit down and do the math, as suggested by the previous poster. :thumbsup2 There are a lot of variables to consider, including water parks, travel dates, etc. But, generally speaking, the AP pays for itself on the 4th day you're in the parks. :)
