My husband and I are going to San Diego next week fir a kid free trip. We have been to WDW numerous times. We were thinking about driving up to DL early on Thursday 6/7 and being there when it opens. I know it is a grad night but will the crowds be doable? I don't want to make the drive and waste the day if it is crazy busy.

Any advice is helpful! i haven't spent as much time planning as I usually do.

of course you should do it:thumbsup2...its really hard to say how busy it is going to be...i think pretty much, that all kids are going to be out of school at that point...but alot of people are waiting to go to Carsland so you really might luck out...I personally think you will be fine...just get there early and get FP's and go with the flow:goodvibes but most of all HAVE FUN!! its DL for goodness sakes:yay::woohoo:

:tiptoe: and PS...dont tell the kids

As my 17yr old daughter would say...
Hecks to the ya!

I have experienced grad nights yesterday and today. Yesterday we were in DCA for most of the day and it was very busy. We didn't go to DL till late afternoon to eat dinner and it was also very busy. But today we spent all day in DL until about 3:30 or 4:00 before leaving to rest in our room. Crowds didn't seem bad at all to me until after 2:00 or so. But it was getting crowded as we left. Of course we left as people were getting spots for the parade but we saw a lot of grads throughout between splash (our last ride before leaving) and the front gate.

It looked to me like Grad night didn't really effect DL park crowds much till later in the afternoon, but DCA seemed much busier than I expected. Maybe the grads who are here all day are going to DCA first and then go to DL later. Either that or people assume all the grads are going to DL so they go to DCA.

Good news is the only thing I noticed with grad nights are the crowds. Didn't see or hear any unruly kids. A lot of kids but I didn't hear a single bad word from any of them in 2 days of grad nights, and no line jumpin or any other issue others have seen. Seems to be very isolated and rare those negative experiences.

We seen line jumpers at GRR yesterday; they looked to be teens, but I don't know if they were grads. I did here some bad words from other teens/young adults.

coaches24 we were in DCA most of yesterday too.

Small world. We only went to DL yesterday for dinner and then hit tiki room but then it was back to DCA for WOC. We did some attractions we had never done before and had a blast. And DD finally liked playing in the water play area in bugs land. She started in her Cinderella dress but we remembered we had a change of clothes so we put on a different little dress on it and she got soaked. She has never wanted to play in water parks like that before (we have one near us in Sac, as well as 6 flags Vallejo). She loves to swim but would never get close enough to shooting water to do more than barely touch it with her finger.

Go for it! I would imagine that the opening of carsland the next week would make the parks a little less crowded, just a guess though...:confused3
