Should we change our minds?

Well, we had pretty much decided on the Poly for our November trip, but now we're considering the Contemporary. I've heard that it's very busy, but would it be in November? We will only be there for 4 days with two little ones. From the pictures it looks very kid friendly and fun. I'm not into contemporary decor, but it seems to look cute. If we choose it, what do we ask for as far as rooms go? What are your opinions on changing our minds? It's our first trip ever!

Thanks in advance,
Angie

I like the CR OK but the Polynesian is my FAVORITE resort ever. I would stay at the Poly.:wave2:

I doubt either place would be any busier than the other in November. We went to CR last month (for the 1st time) and are going to Poly in November (for the 1st time). We loved CR and are looking forward to trying Poly. How old are your children? We brought 1 year old twins to CR last month and the walkway to MK was a blessing. We had a north wing bay view and thought it was spectacular. Chef Mickeys in CR was fun for the kids and we enjoyed the food. Of course, the monorail was great, but you'd have that with Poly too. I guess I don't have much of an opinion because both resorts are good choices, plus I haven't stayed at the Poly yet to make a true comparison. I can only tell you that I don't think you'd be disappointed with either resort. Good luck.

We have stayed at both the Contemporary & the Polynesian & we really loved both of them for different reasons. :)

We loved the Contemporary because of the quick walk to the MK & having Chef Mickey's in the resort. The pool was very nice & not too crowded, and it is always cool to see the monorail drive thru the resort. ;) If your kids are pretty young they will probably think this is pretty cool! Then you'd also be close to the MK - if you stay in the North Wing you are closer to the MK path.

The Polynesian seems a little more relaxed to me. We really loved the theming of this resort & the volcano pool. There's both a boat & the monorail to the MK, but you're also a short walk to the TTC which is really great for Epcot. If your kids are old enough to like Lilo & Stitch they might enjoy the theming here -

Is there much of a price difference for you if you change?

HTH! Either resort is really great in my opinion!
:) :)

Thanks! What is the difference between the different rooms at the Contemporary? Which is the best view?

The CR has the "tower" rooms which are located in the main part of the hotel. This is where the monorail travels through -- your view in the tower rooms is either Bay Lake or the Seven Seas Lagoon. Bay Lake has a view of the lake, WL and FW, the CR pool and CR boat dock, and the ELP. The Seven Seas Lagoon view is the lagoon, the TTC, riverboat to MK, Poly, GF, monorail going from hotels/MK and of course the MK. The higher your floor -- the better the view.

Then you have the wings -- they are similar rooms but off to the side of the main part of the hotel. These have garden, lake views and are only 2/3 stories.

A lot of people with "little ones" like to request ground floor rooms because the kids can play outside and go in and out through the slider. Parents can watch one kid nap and still keep an eye on the other one. Both resorts have ground floor patio areas. But, many like the view from the towers (either of MK or Bay Lake).

CR is usually less expensive (in the wings), if that matters. Both have some of the largest rooms on Disney property. You can walk to MK from the CR in less than 10 minutes, while the monorail has to go all around the circle (TTC, Poly, GF) to get to MK. The Poly has a choice of both monorail (just a stop at the GF before the MK) or the boats to the MK. And you can walk to the TTC from the Poly to get on the monorail to Epcot --- although if you're near the marina and luau cove, it's a longer walk.

Good luck deciding! Both are great choices, and it often comes down to a matter of personal taste.

We've stayed at both resorts and prefer the Poly. Hands down. The CR was fine, we had a good time but the theming is a bit "drab". Although I will say the CR has the Disney Magic for sure.

The Poly theme is so nice - very lush and tropical. Not to mention relaxing. I can't imagine ever picking the CR over the Poly. Can't think of one good reason. But that's just me - we're all different.
