Should we buy a AP?

I am trying to find out the best way to go to WDW for our first trip (most likely the first week of Dec). We want to stay in at least a moderate (CBR is in first place so far), if not AKL.

So, budget wise - if we are going for a week, planning 6 days in the park, should one of us get an AP, and get better room rates? Or are there usually codes for just the room for non - visa, non-AP holders?

We probably won't make reservations until May.
Thanks!

Getting a room discount with an AP can make it very worth getting an AP but don't do it until you actually secure the discounted room. There are no guarantees that AP discounts will be offered or that the resort you want will have availability for them during your time period.

Having said that, there are usually discounts, both AP and codes, available for early December.

Ditto.

Make reservations. Wait. Wait some more. Wait more. If discounts come out apply code and do happy dance, then buy the AP. Note, the happy dance is optional.

So I wouldn't need an AP # or anything to make reservations (or move reservations) under the AP discount code? Just show a card on check in or something?

You will not need the AP when you call to book the room, just tell them you want the AP rate, if it is available, they will give it to you. However, you will need the AP at check in or they may adjust your rate accordingly.

You might also want to consider just getting one AP. I believe only one member of your party needs to have an AP in order to get that rate. I wouldn't buy an AP for everyone if I was not planning on returning within the year. I don't think it would be worth it.

Thanks so much! I will have to see if it is worth it for us to get just one as we won't be returning in a year, and will be staying about 7 days when we go.

Thanks for all the help!

Thanks Before hand for any help.......

Still confused......

I already have ressis for 11/27-12/4 at the ASMO, would like to change this to a Moderate with the hopes of discounts becoming avaiable.

1. Do I need the AP to make the ressies.
2. If not, when do codes usually come out for this time of year.
3. What are the usually discounts for this time.
4. Can the AP be a child's AP, or does it have to be and Adult.
5. Can I call CRO now to tell them I want the AP rates for when I go.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.............

Erin

Are you planning on returning within a year? The threshhold for Annual Pass vs Park Hopper Pass is 8 days. If you are going to be there eight days or more in a one year period, it is more economical to buy the AP, never mind any WDW hotel discounts.

Hi, I am copying a post from the other AP thread just below you:

Hi..and don't forget the little perks from a pass:

Free parking

10% off here and there in Disney stores and restaurants

Some really good deals on moderate and value resorts. (a person in our office bought one AP and 3 Hopper passes last year and the one AP saved her $70 a night at Carribean Beach and paid for itself in a hurry.

Af fun little magazine and internet stuff year round.

Special seating at some concerts, and a couple of AP only lounges in the parks.

Enjoy...Ted
