I read somewhere that cribs are on a first come basis. I'm super worried about not getting a crib for my 1year old. Should I go ahead and take the pack N' play? Can I bring that on the plane? Do I just check it like luggage?

Thanks!!

I guess it depends on the resort and when you are travelling. We are leaving in a few days and there was no mention that we would have a problem with getting a "crib" - which I have been told are pack n' plays.

Yes, you can take them on the airline and would check it as luggage. However, you can rent one from an offsite location and have it delivered - if there was a need, but I wouldn't think so. I'm sure there will be plenty of responses so I thought I would share my advice first. :)

Pack n' plays are in every Disney room, and this is what reservations and the front desk calls a 'crib'. However, those of us with children know the difference.

As mentioned by sgmom, you can rent a full crib offsite: our choice in the past has been A Baby's Best Friend (www.abbf.com), and they have much more than just cribs. We were very very pleased at the quality, service and cleanliness of all the things we rented from them.

I wouldn't take my own as all the resorts have them in the rooms. :thumbsup2

You won't have any problem getting a pack n play, many of the rooms have one in the closet already. You probably won't get a "guarantee" but I wouldn't worry about it. I would bring a couple sheets if you have pnp size, my dd's always felt more comfy in familiar sheets.

Like pp's mentioned if you prefer a full size crib there are orlando rental agencies that will rent them at various costs. My sil used www.abbf.com and liked the service. My dd's always liked the pnp so we just used them.

I don't believe that Pack and Plays are in EVERY Disney room. My understanding is that they are in every DVC room, but you need to request them for the other resorts.

I guess I would only be concerned about not getting one if you are going during a peak season. Have you requested a crib/pack and play on your reservation?

We do bring our own pack and play because I'm a freak about germs. I know that I am in the minority to do so, but I just have vision of a slimey, runny nosed kid pushed up against the cloth side of the pack and play. With Magical Express, it's really no big deal to bring ours along. We have an oversized duffle bag that we slide the PNP into. We just put an ME ticket on it, skycab it at our home airport, and it arrives directly in our room.

We have had one in the closet of our room at the Poly, CR, and CSR 2x. My sil just returned from WL and had one in the room. I noticed because we don't need one anymore and wanted to store the suitcases in the closet:) She noticed because she needed one, forgot to load hers in the car and didn't know they had them:) So if you can't bring one and are counting on WDW don't worry!

I have also found them to be very clean if not brand new when we used them. I did bring along some lysol for more than just the PnP though and always my own sheets and such.

OTOH, armarberry, I totally agree if that you do want to bring your own they pack up so easily you could definately do that. Especially, as you said with ME if you have the luggage allowance why not?

Huh...we've never had a pack and play in our room and we've been with DD 4 times (1 time at Beach Club and 3 times at Pop), most recently in Sept. Maybe they don't have them at the values? :confused3 At Beach Club, we weren't given a pack and play. It was an actual porta crib, but this was when DD was 4 months old in 2004.

We're going Dec 18th. We're staying at Pop Century.

What is DVC?

Our pnp doesnt have a "bag" that it fits in so I'd have to shrinkwrap it or something. Am I allowed to do that with the airlines?

Thanks for all of your help!!

If your PacknPlay doesn't have it's own bag, it would be difficult to bring on a plane. I remember that ours came with a zip-up bag with a handle making it easy to carry around. I don't think I'd worry too much about not getting one. If you really want to be sure that one is reserved for you, I would think about using one of those local rental agencies that will deliver it to the resort.

We will be arriving at Pop on the 15 (me, DH, 2 handsome boys - 11 & 8). Look for the Disney window clings in our window. Maybe we'll see you there! :)

Just FYI - DVC is referring to the Disney Vacation Club Resorts. I agree that bringing your own if you don't have a bag that fits it might be difficult, and that most likely there won't be problems if you note it on your ressie that you requested one. We are DVC members, so have always had one waiting in our room, but if you work with Bell Services, I'm sure they can work something out for your infant.

Another tip, I am planning to bring a pnp size sheet also... but just found the Clorox Anywhere cleaner comes in a travel size. I love this spray and use it in our church nursery every week! I am calling POFQ tomorrow just to confirm we will have a non-smoking room and that the "crib" we requested will be available.

I think it would be hard to transport your pnp without it's bag. If you are considering this, maybe you should order one from the manufacturer? I know you don't have a lot of time, but they could rush it. Also, I know places like Leaps and Bounds sell travel cover/bags. We took one of those Activity Domes the round ones that are like a mini pnp and sit on the floor. Well, we put a bungee cord around it just to make sure it stayed together. When we arrived home, they did have a hard time locating our Dome and it arrived without it's bungee cord. Not sure what happened during the flight.

We were in WDW in November and had a regular crib at the GF (though a small one), a pack n play in the CR (they actually brought us 2 of them, like my almost 3yo daughter would go near one!!), and at Disney's Vero Beach we also had a pack n play. In all of our trips since 2004 we have always been able to get a pack n play when we wanted one.
