Should we bother with Vero?

Planning a trip for President's week next February. We will be in Fort Lauderdale, then drive up to WDW. Thought of driving up to Vero to spend a night and enjoy the resort as we have never been there.

But I'm wondering if we would be able to enjoy the pool or beach? I know this year was unusually cold, but can others who have been in February tell me if it's worth it? Or should we just press onward to WDW? Thanks!!

I am very interested in the answer to this as we are thinking of trying to get VB for NYE - but again wondered whether it would be worth it if it is too cold.

We have been to VB in Feb (Pres. Week) and we were happy with our stay but we are from the NE and on average it's 41 degrees warmer in VB then home. (Ave High 74). I'll take that any day. That said, the ocean is really too cold to swim. We went in for a few minutes but not many did, however the pool is heated and the slide if fun. The beach was still fun to sit on, play, collect shells, and splash our feet in the water. We even ordered pizza from next door and had a picnic one night.

WE do this all the time. VB is a great little relaxing resort.

We went this Feb and it was cold,(rainy and 50 degrees) but we still enjoyed the resort. They have camp fires at night, you can rent bikes and ride them along the intercoastal, (very fun and very tiring, I think its 4 miles rt and 1/2 is on a sandy road, but the view is awesome- intercoastal on 1 side, million $ homes on the other. We walked the beach, played volleyball and did the scavage hunt. They have a little spa on site, activities for kids, onsite mini-golf, great pool and great beach.
The kids even ended up in the water (when it was 50 degrees- the water was warmer than the air)-- but we still had a nice time.

VB is midway between Ft Lauderdale and Disney about 2 hours from each!

Thanks for your replies, still undecided but I have until July to make a decision!
