Should We Book June 26th Wonder at the Last Minute?

Please help me decide what to do. We (me, DH and DS16) are currently planning a trip to WDW/Universal beginning June 25th for a week. We are staying four nights at the YC and three nights at Portofino Bay at Universal.

We were at WDW two years ago and have made several trips over the years. We did the Big Red Boat in 1991.

I keep thinking that WDW will be very crowded this summer (not to mention the heat and humidity). I am thinking we might have more fun taking the 3-day Wonder Cruise on June 26th. It would work out perfectly with our plans. We would arrive on the 25th and stay one night at the YC. We would head to the port the next day and return on Sunday the 29th (my birthday). We would then head to Universal for three nights (Front of the Line at US/IOA) and head home on July 2nd.

I'm a little concerned that I will be paying more for this cruise than would be necessary had I booked early. How much more do you think?

What do you think of my plan?

Your thoughts are appreciated.

When I look at allseastravel.com, it would approximately $2,300 for you in a Category 9 (porthole, no verandah). that is almost $250/person/day. (less for inside room, more for verandah)

As a comparison, we are paying approximately $140/person/day in a Category 9 in November that we booked in February. (cheaper due to off season and early booking)

I guess it is all in your perspective of what you are willing to pay.

maybe look at what you would be paying for the three of you at YC and tickets for the three days and compare.

you could also stay in Port Canaveral the night before for approximately $100 at the Radisson (which is considerably less than the YC).

Due a price comparison and see where you come out.

Oh yes, I've done that. It's pretty much a wash - staying at YC in a waterview room, tickets to the parks, food for three days. It's not that much different than the cruise. I was just wondering how much more I was paying for the cruise because I'm deciding at the last minute.

Thanks for your reply.

We're just back from the Wonder and I would say go for the cruise. I'm already dreaming about our next visit and I could definitely skip the parks for the sea.
