Should we be able to edit posts?

I agree with Robinb.

I used to belong to a message board where it was an unwritten rule that you couldn't delete entire posts just because you said something you regretted, or that was inflammatory. If you did it once, you'd often get called to the mat, and if you did it enough, you'd get banned from the forum.

I think that goes a little overboard. Besides, like others have mentioned, there's always the quote function.

google spellcheck :thumbsup2 !!!!

Download the google toolbar and they have a spell check feature that works on most message board sites!

I have no problem with people editing. I also have no problem with people who start a thread wanting it locked. Its just not that big in the large scheme of things. Most of you are people I don't know, and if you say something that makes you look like an idiot, oh well. Its not a big deal, and God knows I've done it before, probably too many times to count. Edit away.

It took me a long time to put aside those sort of emotional feelings regarding internet posters and what they post, but I've finally arrived. :p

I don't mind editing posts, but I hate when an OP will ask to have a thread locked or deleted just because they don't like the turn it's taken.

I might agree if this were a different type of board.....but this is a "just for fun" Walt Disney World based board. I like things the way they are.

ITA! I like being able to go back and add a photo or correct a typo.

I don't mind when people edit their post due to typos or add something or change the sentences to make more sense.

My pet peeve is.. people keep quoting one another back and forth..back and forth and it's about thier experience/situation and it's not about the original Poster any longer. It's like... if you guys wants to debate/argue among yourself.. fine.. start another thread. It's not about you.. it's about the person who started the thread and needs advice/infos/opinions of their situation... but instead.. the thread is getting way off topic because there's two, three, four, five.. people arguing/debating about something else and it's not about the the OP anymore.

No problem with editing. Sometimes things just don't come out right the first time. It sounds "right" in your head but typed out, not so much.

I agree with this.

I don't mind editing posts in general. As a matter of fact, yesterday I did an edit because I decided that I'd gone a little too far in my pickle post and decided that I did want to be here today. So I did a quick edit. Yes, I shouldn't have posted it to begin with, however, I'm impulsive. I suppose that if the edit button wasn't there, I would have thought twice before posting it. Usually, though, I use the edit button to correct typos or to add to a post since I can't post a new one within 40 seconds and I'm impatient.

Sure we should be able to edit. I don't see a need for people to be more responsible, and editing allows them to be when they've/I've gone past that point. It is just a message board.
