Should we avoid Epcot 3/1 first day of Flower & Garden?

We are going to Disney arriving 2/27- leaving 3/6. Had planned on 3/1 as our first Epcot day, but now I see that this is the first day of F & G. Should we rethink our original plans? Had wanted to avoid 3/2 as it is Epcot EMH. Then had planned for the Saturday but now wondering if that will be super busy as well (although we have Akershus reserved and I don't want to cancel that for Saturday)

We were there opening day last year and it seemed just fine, no crazy crowds at all - actually barely any lines at food stands, etc. we are planning an Epcot day that day this coming year as well!

F&G is mainly around World Showcase. That's what attracts the big crowds. If your goal at Epcot is to do stuff like Test Track and Soarin, you'll be fine.

We've been at Epcot on the first day of F&G before. It didn't seem to affect crowds much, if I remember correctly.

We were at the first day of F&G this year and it was fine. That said we were there to tour the gardens. We were at the rope for the World Showcase at 11am and finished the loop around at a leisurely pace. I do not recall any sense of crowds.

Totally agree with the others. Being the first day of the Festival is not going to impact the crowds all that much.
