Should the top floor of every WDW hotel be modified for DVC?

It might not be a bad idea, but given the way DVC has done things since the BW, you won't get the prime view rooms - both the VWL and the BCV have secondary views. If they were going to add timeshare units to the Poly, converting an existing building (or at least using the space an existing building sits on) would be about the only way to do it.

Thanks crisi, I thought about that and honestly, they could shut down a building at GF or Poly during the slow season (assuming there is one) and remodel the absolute worst (least desireable/requested) building and I would still add on there.

And THAT is why they won't give you the top floor overlooking the lagoon. Because they sell DVC once to people who are willing to accept the worst building (or don't think about it at time of sale) - and they can (and need to) sell that high floor lagoon view over and over and over again.

If people were telling the guides "I'd love to buy DVC, but the views are inferior" they'd build more DVC resorts with great views.

Gotta go with Crisi on this one. Giving the best views DVC wouldn't be wise at all for the company as a whole. Assuming the top floor is the best view (not necessarily the case). The best views should go to that population group that's willing to pay a ridiculous premium to get the best experience going. Oddly enough that doesn't describe a DVC'er so Disney would be leaving money on the table by removing an viable sales element from the rental pool.

And the other point that some one else made is also pertinent. The resorts without DVC are the ones that give you the opportunity to stay on points when DVC rooms are all booked up. I had just this opportunity last New Years...no DVC available but I did get into a moderate resort.

Agreed, (I assume you are referring to the title of the thread) but I only titled it that to get attention and because I had heard they were possibly doing that at AK already. Would I rather have all the best views be DVC-sure, is that realistic-of course not. But if the only way to get some DVC rooms at some of these premier resorts is the worst "views" I am fine with that. If you think about it, what DVC has a great view? Only BWV in my opinion. Even when DVC began, I doubt anyone said "I cant wait to buy at OKW because of the view of a palm tree or maybe a golf hole or pond".

As I have said before, there is BWV BW View, then theres everything else.

. . . I think if I've made an investment in Disney and come year after year, I'd like them to make an investment in me and make an effort to give us a nice view . . .

1) Why?
2) We bought a time share, that's all.
3) Sure, at Disney, but still JUST a time share.
4) If you want views, you should stay at a Deluxe each year.
5) Not only do you want a view, but at a reasonable point value.
6) Be happy with what you bought.
7) We are.

I own Disney Stock.
I won't buy at a Disney resort without what I consider good views.
I'm glad you do though because it helps me.
I'm happy with what I've bought.
I'm glad you are happy with what you bought even if it's only bad views.
I stay at deluxes each year.
