Should the Kona Island Sushi Bar start taking ADR's?

It wasn't a bad experience because the food and etc was great, it was just some misscommunication and etc from the people who were ahead of us.

Oh sorry not didnt mean a completely bad experience, and Im glad to hear the food is great b/c I LOVE sushi and planned on trying to get some in less than 2 weeks..

The seats at the KISB in front of the sushi chefs are stools without backs and the singlemost uncomfortable places to park your caboose in the western hemisphere. Anyone who chooses to sit there is a glutton for punishment.

KISB is just that, a bar. Bars do not and will never take ADRs. If sitting there is an absolute must, then waiting for the stools to free up is the burden of the guest and not a responsibility of the outlet.

I know from previous posts that the OP is a big fan of this place, and so are we. We, however, do not mind sitting at the counter overlooking the monorail station. It's not a bad view, the seats are more comfortable, there are plenty of them, and so we are always guaranteed a place to sit.

Everytime I go there I pull over a normal chair from kona. They have them along the back wall lined up. It's a tiny bit short but far more comfy.

No, they should not take ADRs. I wish there were more first come first serve sit down places on property so guests wouldn't have to sit around 180 days out and plan all their meals at busy times of the year.

I beg to differ. Unless something has changed recently, Kona Island is a Sushi Bar (by night, Coffee Bar during AM), and not a table service restaurant. You can dine there (typical bar seating situation, no ADRs necessary), or order sushi to take out. Kona Cafe is the name for the actual table service restaurant (located next door to the bar), which accepts ADRs.

Those who have the Disney Dining Plan may exchange 1 TS credit for two 'sushi rolls'... so perhaps that is where the confusion stems from?
