Should the Annual Pass rates be announced before Free Dining?

Since guests who have Annual Pass are more likely to return on future vacations to WDW, shouldn't they release Annual Pass rates before any more dates of Free Dining if it's to be extended past September 29, 2011. Personally it seems that WDW wants to keep pushing Free Dining on us and forgetting about their guests with Annual Passes when it comes to Passholder rates.

I have to agree. Even the GP offers being opened up so far ahead, but nothing for AP holders unless you get the elusive AP PIN. How ridiculous is it to send a PIN to AP holders?! Offer us all the same rates and let that be it. We are all paying the same amount of money for the pass, we shouldn't have to worry about having luck of the draw and receiving a PIN.

Agreed. I would think it would be beneficial to disney to do it this way because more people may be apt to buy AP's if they see a great deal. Then, again working in disney's favor, those same people would probably book another trip to get use out of their AP's.

For quite some time, Disney has made it plain that they want NEW customers. Repeat customers do not spend as much on merchandise, etc. Free dining is out there to bring in new customers, although lots of repeat customers take advantage. AP holders do not buy new tickets, usually do not go for the dining plan, and have bought all the merchandise they want. Not so much money for Disney. The offerings of AP discounts grows worse each year. So yes, I agree with you.

Well I may have an Annual Pass and we don't purchase the Dining Plan, however everytime we are at WDW we spend a fair amount of money on merchandise and etc. So I think WDW is wrong if that's what they keep thinking about their repeat customers.

I have to agree. Traveling with children makes it IMPOSSIBLE to leave the World without purchasing an over abundance of merchandise. Plus, they give you the 10% discount at World of Disney which definitely results in us spending a pretty penny there. I will say we don't buy shirts, but it's because of the quality. They've really cut corners on quality yet raised prices and I won't spend $30+ on a shirt that is going to fall apart after a few washes. However, DS always leaves with a ton of stuff and now the I'll be taking DD she will definitely be getting a ton of crap as well.

Not only is it 10% or 20% at the World of Disney depending on what Annual Pass you have, that discount is available at all the stores owned and operated by WDW.

I know that Premium AP owners get 20%, but I didn't know it was available at any Disney owned store. Geez I've clearly been missing out!

It certainly would be nice if Disney's plan was to reward those visitors who come back year after year to spend their hard earned dollars, but Disney offers discounts for one reason only, to fill the rooms.

I think that they have found, for whatever reason, that the free dining promotion is what brings up the reservations.

Unfortunately, they know that AP holders will be back so rushing to get the discounts out isn't as much of a priority as it would be to get those new guests booked.
