Should Storyteller's Improve their Characters?

I've never seen much talk about this place, and maybe that's because the characters there aren't "top tier". Everyone loves Chip&Dale, but you can find them over at Goofy's Kitchen and sometimes at Plaza Inn. One of these places needs to dump them and replace them with someone else. I think Storyteller's is a good fit for critters, so Goofy's should definitely change there.

But what about the other characters? While Brother Bear is in my Top 3 films, most people don't care about it too much. For me, it's a wash. I can keep them, but other may want to see something different. And then there's Meeko. While I can appreciate the "critter" feel of this character experience, I think it would attract a lot more folks if they put a recent character like Russel from Up, or even put Donald Duck (who isn't at any other character experience) in a Ranger outfit.

What do you think?

I agree they should dump Chip & Dale. It's overkill to have them at 3 of the character meals. There are plenty of other creatures that could show up there.

Or dump them at GK and PI. Plenty of others that would work in those spots as well.

We have had the best characters at storytellers... Meeko, Koda and Kenai, Baloo, Brer Bear... I hope those never change... They can send away Chip and Dale because we see them everywhere!

We love Storytellers, mostly for the quality of the food but the characters are fun too. I've never seen Brother Bear and Pocahontas is far from a favorite of mine, but the woodland creatures definitely fit the theme of the restaurant. Maybe they could do some of the bunnies that are usually in the festival area for Easter, or the Robin Hood characters.

I would actually like them to keep Koda, Kenai, and Meeko. They can dump Chip and Dale and add back Baloo and Rafiki or something.

I liked the character interactions we had at Storyteller's last December even though I wasn't familiar with the Brother Bear characters. But I do wish there were a couple more characters that made the rounds. Winnie the Pooh and friends would be a good fit, or like others have said maybe characters from Jungle Book, Robin Hood, etc. I do think having at least one or two more recognizable characters would also make this a more desirable character breakfast option.

Koda, Kenai, and Meeko are rare and good fits for the theme. Adding maybe Thumper (he makes appearances during Easter at DL) is something we would like and as Gator Chris mentioned, Donald in his Ranger Outfit ala AKL at WDW would be great. Rename it to Donald's Grand Forrest Breakfast or something where he is the breakfast headliner (for once).

Humphrey would be outstanding too.

Why are we trying to make this more popular anyway? We like that it's not popular. :rolleyes1

Hehe, anyway. I'm really not a fan of Donald, but more obscure woodland creatures would be fun.

One of the interesting things about Disney films is that every film has its fans. Kids who were at the exact right age when the movie came out. Regardless of how history rates the film, there will be people for whom it is THEIR VERY FAVORITE! And thus the same with characters.

We're doing Storytellers specifically for Meeko. My gf would happily trade away all the other character meals and probably Fantasmic and WoC for a chance to meet Meeko. I can understand replacing Chip and Dale since they're also elswhere, but I'm sure that somebody somewhere would be heartbroken if any of the other characters went away.

Personally, I think they need to revamp ALL of the character meals. They would certainly be more fun if the characters were unique to each breakfast. They have way too much overlap. If characters only showed up at ONE meal we would definitely book more meals. The only one with truly unique characters is Ariel's, and we found the interaction at that one to be terrible. It was basically a quick stop at the table for a photo op. No conversation or anything. I'd really like to see more character meals (not only breakfast) each with their own characters.

Now don't shoot me for more Frozen, but can't you see a Frozen character meal with the sisters, Olaf, Sven, and Kristoff where the kids could dance with them?

Donald's Safari breakfast would be great.

Dog Day Afternoon lunch with Pluto, Dug, a Dalmatian or two, Lady & Tramp, etc.

I don't think they need donald there but they need to keep Kenai and Koda as there is not enough of them anywhere and these were the only reason I booked this breakfast. They had Brer Fox when we were there as well which I think was great. Brer Rabbit and bear could also go in there. I think elsewhere some park be it DL or WDW needs to do a Dogs breakfast and have Copper and Todd (I know he's a fox whatever) Bolt, Max, Pluto, Dug etc at a breakfast. That would be awesome!

We went to Storytellers in August and my boys loved it! I made them watch Brother Bear before we left so they knew who Koda and Kenai were. They loved the movie and the character interaction with them was beyond awesome! Meeko was great too. Chip & Dale (who my oldest LOVES) were very disappointing. They stopped for a pic and kept on moving. I think they should add Brer Fox and Brer Rabbit. They fit the theme and I think would add to the uniqueness of this breakfast.

I like the fact that Storytellers has characters that fit to their restaurant and are unique to that location. I like that Chip & Dale are there and have the cute little woodland scarves on (so I'd opt to keep them here and substitute other characters at the Plaza Inn and/or Goofy's). I wouldn't mind seeing more unique woodland-type characters added/rotated into Storytellers (e.g., Thumper, Rabbit, the Brers, etc.), but I wouldn't want to see this become another place with a hodge-podge of characters that don't fit into the theme.

Yes, I think that Storytellers needs to revamp its characters. I hadn't even heard of the movie, "Brother Bear," until coming here to these boards and people were talking about it in relation to the character breakfast.

Any Jungle Book and Robin Hood characters would make this breakfast a must for me. Humphrey would be a perfect addition.

I wouldn't mind if they keep them, but it would have been nice if they actually showed up at our table...apparently everyone was "on break" during the hour + we were there. Kenai came over for about 10 seconds. Dale walked by and paused slightly for a pic (maybe 8 seconds) and Meeko spent about a minute after I asked our server a 4th time if characters were coming. Huge bummer!

Brother Bear is one of my faves, but I can see how others have never even heard of the film. It was more of a boy movie, so without a princess, there was no mega-hype over it. I definitely would want to see Koda and Kenai there. I'm just wondering why Chip & Dale are at all these character meals.

We went on Sunday, Oct 25th, at like 7:20 am. At first only Kenai, Chip and Dale were there. I was concerned because we booked it specifically so my gf could meet Meeko. We were almost done with our meal when Meeko came out. We stayed for him. All 4 characters were great, and spent a decent amount of time at our table. Maybe it was because it was so early, the place wasn't crowded at all.

If they added Bolt (he does go on that cross country trip and there were probably some woods, right?), we would be there every time! My little daighter's favorite movie! We did Storytellers last year for the first time since we were staying at GCH. It was ok, but the characters were somewhat obscure to me. But my dad (75 years old) loved hugging the bears and cracking up his granddaughters in the process!!
