Should smoking be......

Hey I just got a Volcano Vaporizer on http://www.vapir.com for $449 ! Seems like they got a few pallets of them in stock and are blowing them out for CHEAP!

Also, I bought a Vapir ONE 2.0 from them and a balloon inflation kit for under $150! That thing is dope! Way better than the Volcano Vaporizer. I will be selling my old one on ebay if anyone is interested.

If smoking should be banned in all public places such as streets and parks etc... then so should the wearing of perfume which makes me and others I know violently ill. YOU can get away from me.....I cannot get away from you when you come into my place of work, gag me in an elevator, sit by me in church, at a resturant, in a movie. You can only move so many times and so many people wear horrendously strong perfumes and aftershaves. Most smoking has been banned indoors but outside I should be able to smoke. You can walk around me, cross the street or otherwise avoid me. I dont have that option with perfumes and aftershaves.

I agree with this and I am not a smoker. I used to smoke, quit for 7 years, started again for 2 months and then quit a second time. I can tolerate smoke from other people, that doesn't bother me. What really bothers me is walking by a person and they are so doused with cologne or perfume that I literally stop and cough! Ick!

Have not read this thread in a long time. Sorry if I upset anyone! Just my own feelings/issues with smoking. I was not telling anyone their own feelings- just stating my own. It makes me very upset when I see a little one in a car with a smoker. I can not grasp why anyone would do this to a child I guess!

Well, I and many think making smoking illegal is the least of this country's problems. One control given leads to another and another. Banning in public isnt enough? So now we are seeking to push the control even further. So lets say you make a cigarette illegal. What are you gonna do send people to jail for smoking? If it's illegal a punishment will be set. Next push will be for big punishments, big fines.
Are you gonna call the police if you see your neighbor smoking? Gonna send that nice guy or lady down the street to jail? Maybe you think they deserve prison with murderers and rapists? Suddenly smokers are less a person...dirty..nasty..they are criminals, lets hang em all! Such a mob mentality exists and is seen decade after decade with one issue or the next. (BURN her, she's a witch!!!!!) lol
We'll have how many extra police on force nationwide to handle a call about this? You will see the very same outcome and effects we encountered with prohibition. Yes, that nasty reminder of why things like this do not work.
That will return with a vengence if its made illegal. It will create a huge undergound illegal market & many just wont stop... We were ridiculous enough to have prohibition, making average people criminals for drinking (also a personal habit) we shouldnt go there on this habit either.
If you think people will just stop because it's a law, you are wrong. Almost noone stopped drinking no matter the penalty, except the people who didnt like it to begin with. You push people to far and they will push back, intolerance breeds more of the same. Right now smokers are polite and follow or try and seek to follow rules but you take their right away and oh boy there will be a mutiny on hand.
It's crazy the makers are allowed to continue to make them with the harmful ingrediants and/or additives that make people addicted. Funny our gov't. didnt even consider to make the additives illegal. We make stuff illegal at the drop of a hat but not those additives. Really strange. It's the additives that make second hand the most harmful...but then again so does that smog and the zillions of other toxins and air pollutants in large cities, or in our lakes but noone's worried about that. You take away smoking and there's still alot of unhealthy germs and air out there.
People dont smoke in public in L.A. and yet they still have very poor air quality and will continue to do so as long as your focus is kept on those pesky smokes and not the bigger issues.

Sorry, I was going to respond to someone here but I imagine him as the one person at where he works that NO ONE LIKES...Then I felt to bad to respond.

I appreciate Smokers who try to be good about where and when they smoke. My DSister in law smokes around my nieces and makes me sick, but I can't control others. We may wish we could but we can't.

I wish!! But like many others I can't see it happening.

Of course i speak as someone who hates cig smoke and hates being exposed to it, has a DH who is allergic to it, and wants to protect my kids from the effects of second-hand smoke, so I am clearly biased in one direction!

I certainly applaud all the public place bannings that have been evolving over the years. Like anything else, if you want to hurt yourself with cig smoke, so it in your own home! I just feel for the spouse and kids that have to suffer along with the smoker - it is on their behalf that I would support total illegality. I am aware, of course, that it wouldn't stop people who were bound and determined - there would simply develop a black market and people would still smoke at home and endanger there kids. :sad2:

If smoking was illegal then who could they push all the extra taxes off on?
