Should roll out the driveway in 10 days

Kids are in their bunks and everyone is sound asleep. So time to fill in some gaps.

Driving between the campgrounds has been mostly smooth till tonight.(tell you about that in a bit)

We slept in the RV the night before rolling out of the driveway to get an early start of things which worked out well.

Arrived our first night in New Mexico to a stroll through the campground to end up seeing snakes:scared1:

Next night we arrived in TX where fellow campers joined our kids in playing instraments and singing around the campfire. We had a great time.

Our third night, tonight, we arrive at another TX campground and settle in.Then a loud group arrives, followed by more loud groups. They turn out to be people we do not want to stay by.I am displeased by their foul mouths so get my kids into the RV, when I hear two of their teens planning to take Foster sons headphones and other things from other campers. Last straw for me since we had already heard the adults discuss loudly with each other how to cheat free services and things from big companies(including Disney)

As we left I noticed a "Freeians" bumper sticker on one of their vans and a pop-up.

We arrived at our 2nd campground of the night explaining to them why we left the other campground. They make sure we have a safe site to camp have us talk with their security and talk us into talking with the Police. In talking with the Police we learn the "freeians" groups have stolen from campgrounds and campers.

So tonight has been stressful, but doing better now.

In the morning we will go to the zoo.Youngest loves to see animals so her siblings helped her pick the zoo as her pick.

I will try to post more after the zoo.

Sorry to hear you had a stressful night. At least the rest has been fun. Hope you continue to have fun. Are you going to the Houston Zoo? If so it's a really nice zoo. Hope it doesn't rain to much for you today. We're expecting a thunderstorm if you're close to Houston. Drive safely and enjoy the rest of your trip.

We made it to Houston tonight.

Our fun stops today were San Antonio Zoo and the Alamo.Fun was had by all.

The zoo was a blast and the kids feed necter to the birds. The older kids got more out of our short stop at the Alamo.

Watching everything about the storms DH expected it would be worse driving than it was today.

The twins complained tonight that they are ouchy when they woke-up.Gave them some pain meds and got them back to sleep. We will see how they are in the morning.E-mailed their Ortho Dr. and Dr replyed with the name of a friend here in Houston if we need it in the morning.

The twins say the Ortho Dr here in Houston, then off to x-ray and back to the Dr.

Good news guys:thumbsup2 the rods and hooks are holding:woohoo:

They had just strechted to much feeding the birds at the zoo.

We are spending an extra night in Houston.

Houston has the greatest doctors :) Sorry you had to stay another night. glad the twins' rods are holding up. Hope they feel better soon. Enjoy the extra night

We had real good luck with the one our Ortho referred us to. Got us in the morning we called, got x-rays right away got back in to Dr right afterwards.Everyone was wonderful. Each gave us lists of other Drs they knew along our rounte in case anything comes up.

One of the Drs at the office gave us a print-out of ride info with which rides are safe for back issues.

Damage to our RV but we are okay. Posted more details over in camping.:sad2:

After a long day of driving we rolled into our Alabama campground late trying to make up for spending an extra night in Houston. After a goodnites rest we wanted to look around the campground before hitting the road again. That and DSs service dog needed a predrive potty walk.

Now we are here at least an extra night:sad2:

In a motel trying to decide what to do. Looks like it may take too long to fix RV. Post-poned check-in a day so missing a day with Mickey:sad1:

Updating now that I have had time to get more figure how to press-on, be it a few days later or just a day late.

If the repair shop says it will take more than a week to repair our RV then we will have our shuttle van shipped to us so we can drive to WDW.My boss belongs to DVC and she told me to try to rent a villa instead of trying to use our storage tent and a rental accessable RV that is too small.

If it will take less than a week to repair we will just delay our arrival and stay here at motel till it is fixed. Then just go to Fort just later than planned.

Watching the kids calmly sleep knowing that they do not know of our WDW plans helps.

glad you are all safe, and hope that some better magic comes your way and the RV is fixed sooner rather than later. (or at least, whatever end up working for the most magical time!)

Did anyone notice any of the old bullet holes in the wall of the Alamo? Did you stop at riverwalk? I wish I would have stumbled across your trip report pre-Texas. I have family all over down there and used to visit yearly.

Thank you Singledad.

Foster Son had fun pointing the holes out. If we had more time he would have loved to stay longer.

What a wonderful family you have, I really hope they can get your RV repaired quickly and get you back on the road or find an alternative.

I hope you make it to Disney World safely and that you all have a magical time. :grouphug:

I went yearly for over 8 years, and I *still* haven't learned all I could about the Alamo. really really awesome history, glad to know someone else enjoys the place!

I LOVE the fact they responded via cannon shot. :thumbsup2

I hope you all make it to Disney safe & sound! You have an amazing family and I can't wait to read more...

Thank you proundmomof4, Singledad, and mphalens

Singledad, DH and I stop at the Alamo whenever we get near enough to stop by. We like history stops and love that the kids are interested in them as well.

RV is being sent to factory for repair/rebuild. We will be here till monday.Monday we talk with each of the insurance companies about what they are covering.

Working on our list of places we think might work as a place to stay instead of our RV.

We will likely have our shuttle van shipped up to us on monday so we can drive to WDW.

Okay our shuttle van arrived we are packed, we shipped what does not fit in it or the trailer.

Animal kingdom villas here we come.:cheer2:

Yay!!!! So glad you can finally get to Disney!!!! My mom would be SO jealous! She wants to stay at the AK Villas SO bad!!!!

Wish we could bring you guys along with us.

Should arrive at WDW this afternoon.
