Since only two DVC feature pools (BWV and VWL) are available for pool hopping to all four DVC resort guests, and since pool hoping was introduced to expose guest to other pools but with all DVC resorts available to all guests,

Should pool hoping be limited to non-DVC pools?

Everyone can pool-hop to OKW also. The only pools that we can not hop to are AK and SAB (but we can still use the quiet pools at the BC). I know that you are stating feature pools, but really the only "feature" pool that we can no longer hop to is SAB. I have been there a number of times when staying at BWV and it is usually very crowded. I have no problem with them ending hopping there and not at the other DVC resorts. I guess if I want to swim at SAB I will stay at BCV. But I don't know if I will. Without BCV the pool was already pretty crowded. And I don't think that hoppers were the ones pushing up the crowds. Now they have added a few hundred more guests to the resort the pool will likely be very crowded. I think that the more we complain about pool-hopping restrictions the sooner the whole program will end all together.

I can see some logic of having pool hopping ONLY to other DVC resorts ( although I wouldn't agree with it) , I can't see any logic in limiting it to non DVC resorts.

I'm surprised they still have the Pool hopping? We haven't done it in years, and it's too much work. Whenever we want to sample another resort's pool, we've gone back to that old crazy approach of actually paying for rooms or using our points there. It seems everyone loves their DVC resorts pools the way they are, and since SAB is now off limits, why not just use your own resort pool? We love the BW, but I can't see why anyone would want to go through all the trouble to pool hop there. Why not do one of the water parks instead? I've read where some have said that they couldn't get into the BW because it was sold out, so they stayed at another resort, and used the BW pool. I would think if it was sold out for that week, they wouldn't allow hoppers. Just my opinion, but we could care less if they eliminated it.

Although I hate to see a benefit taken from DVC members, I must agree, I would be just as happy if all pool hopping is eliminated for DVC members. If you want to use a certain pool then either pay cash or points to stay at that resort. It would eliminate a lot of headache for Disney, I am sure.

I'm a NO vote. If it were restricted to DVC resorts only then you only have three choices:OKW,BWV and VWL. The feature pool at WL was intended for WL guests. Now they've had to absorb VWL guests. To expect WL to accept all DVC resorts when Poly,GF,Cont, etc don't have to isn't fair to the $$$ guests.

Question about Luna Park: Is it intended for BWI as well as BWV ?

KNWVIKING, the poll is should pool hopping be restricted to NON DVC resorts, so if that was the case DVC members would be able to pool hop everywhere BUT OKW, BWV, BCV, WLV and AKL since that pool is already excluded.
Luna Park is for guests at both BWI and BWV.

For over 10 years, DVC Guides have presented pool hopping as a benefit of buying into DVC. In that time, around 60,000 families have bought into DVC -- obviously not just beacuse of the pool hopping. But pool hopping is one of the answers to the question, "What would we do at WDW year after year if we were to buy DVC points?"

I expect to pool hop to the Beach Club Villas the next time we visit WDW in the Summer. It will be a good way to cool off in the afternoon of an Epcot day, before the afternoon thunderstorm. So, yes, you can pool hop to BCV -- because BCV doesn't have to mean Stormalong Bay.

Why would any DVC member want to see pool hopping severely limited or eliminated entirely?

In 1993 there were no restrictions on pool hopping. Now there are some restrictions. As long as the restrictions are reasonable, I don't object.

We have not had a need to pool hop yet with our children's ages. There may come a day when DS gets bored with the parks and he is old enough, he could head to another fun pool to spend the afternoon at. Water parks are fun, but without a UMP or PAP, it gets costly for a family of five especially for just an afternoon or so. I like the idea of pool hopping if we ever find the desire to use that perk; I would not like it to be taken away.

Yes it is. Also pools at WL are shared by WL and VWL.

...and I would vote for no pool hopping at all - AS OF RIGHT for either DVC members or regular guests.

We really enjoyed pool hopping to Stormalong Bay (which is why we are buying an add-on there). It was especially convenient to pool hop from BWV because we could walk over to the pool.

My son just found out the other day that we can't pool hop there anymore and he was very crestfallen. I did tell him that we could swim there if we stay there which we can do. That perked him up!!

Do you remember when pool hopping was part of just staying at ANY Disney resort? We use to pool hop from CBR.

Boy did I mis-read the poll. Disregard my previous post and change my vote to Yes. It would put all DVC resorts on equal pool hopping level. Right now BCV owners can hop to OKW,BWV and VWL, (but why would they) but no one else can hop there. Of course without being able to hop to DVC resorts or AKL the number of desirable resorts is reduced and maybe the remaining resorts will find reasons to say NO.

That's not true. DVC members staying with points at OKW, BWV and VWL can hop to the pool at BCV, just not to SAB. And hopping to the pool at BCV could be very convenient and fun as a break on a hot day at Epcot.

Please let me repeat, why would any DVC member want to see pool hopping severely limited or eliminated entirely??? That just doesn't make sense to me.

Do you think it's fair to overcrowd another resorts pool when you are not staying there? It's not just the pool, it's the hottub, the chairs and spots by the pool. We've read how much everyone loves their quiet pools at their resorts, then why pool hop?
I certainly understand the concern when you only have a couple pools at your resort. However it is part of the DVC experience and should stay that way.
and the parking spots.
That's a non issue. No one needs their cars at the premium hotel resorts. They are so convenient to everything.

I always rent a car, even when staying at BWV. We use it almost everywhere (except Epcot & MGM), we prefer not to be jam packed into crowded busses, plus we go offsite to outlets, grocery shopping, a couple meals.

I've never pool hopped, but I would think most people who do would use their own car. If you wanted to pool hop from OKW to BWV, you would have to take 2 busses or 1 bus to Epcot or MGM and take the boat or walk. Doesn't sound like it would be worth the trouble without a car.

This question has a "not in my backyard" feel to it. We don't want anyone crowding up *our* pools, but we should be free to crowd theirs?

Wow. I never would have thought you would need a car at such a conveniently located deluxe resort hotel.

It sounds like a car is needed pretty much everywhere you want to go unless of course you want to spend your entire vacation at Epcot. Being close to one park just makes the bus ride to the other parks that much longer.

One of my all time favorite movies!! Doc Hollywood!!

But...how does Richard Simmons fit into this??

In an effort to preserve the quality of this resort experience for you and your family, Members will no longer be able to pool-hop to Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts unless they are staying at these resorts or at Disney's Beach Club Villas starting July 1, 2002. The current pool-hopping program at other Walt Disney World® Resort pools will continue to be available to Members with the exception of certain restricted dates and/or further capacity issues.

Werner, the above is what is posted on the member site. I would take it to mean that we couldn't officially hop to any of the pools at Y&B.
