there used to be a rule against people under thirteen posting. you had to be 13 or over to register, and you would get banned if you broke those rules. I'm not exactly sure when that changed really...

I turn 13 this december and i have been posting here since last year. I see no problem with like 10 11 12 year old kids but idk about like five year olds. I dont mind either way. But i dont want like 50 year olds chatting with us:rotfl:

"Yeah, cause like, they've got like one foot in the grave! OMG!"

Just kidding. I'm 38. I just saw the title of the post on the main board and hopped on to say that I have never bothered looking on this board because the grammar, spelling, punctuation, usage and absolute dribble about nothing would give me a migrane. I just breezed through the last page and saw there were at least 2 people who spelled "allowed" as "aloud". It makes my stomach churn for the state of education in America today.

The funniest thing about being an adult is knowing that teenagers are going to BLINK as we once did and realize that 20 years have passed and they too are now adults. Knowing that age happens to all of us is such a comforting thing.

It's not rude.
She thinks it is alright for kids of any age should be allowed to post here.
She didn't mean to be rude.

Pssss I'm a boy. Unless you were not talking about me. Anyways any more opinions?

It makes my stomach churn that you've assumed everyone on here is from America. Or are you implying that only americans make grammatical or spelling errors?

I have no problem with 'tweens' posting on here as long as they can behave maturely, follow the rules and have an intellectual conversation which i believe most can. After all i was only twelve when i joined. Neither do i have a problem with people over 19 posting as long as they respect us. I mean i'd be annoyed if they told us we're young and don't know anything therefore our opinions and ideas are invalid.

i do kind of have a problem with 'tweens' posting on the board.

mainly becuase most of them i've run into say 'OMGG I NEED A BOYFRIEND OTHERWISE MY LIFE IS INCOMPLETE'

and then we have like 15 milion threads on those.
and it gets kind of annoying.

andddd i don't like it when people who have not been on here long (like have ten posts) think that it's okay to bash shelby/mike/jenny/anyone else who has over 1000 posts.

First. Not everyone is from America here
Second. Kind of rude maybe??
Third. Not everyone spells kind of bad.

So, wait. You actually came here to post that you don't like the grammatical skills of the majority of the Teen Board posters. Okay, I understand that much. Though, when one wants to be a grammar Nazi, it would behoove them to spell correctly and not have an over abundance of superfluous commas in their own posts.

Shelby,you are my hero!
I couldn't have said it better myself.

Why did everyone bash this post? The state of education is pretty sad. In my 7th grade gifted math class, we were doing rounding to the nearest tenth, and some retards in my class were like 'But I don't get it!!!'. I'm like okay, wow. That's sad. Why are you in gifted again?

And don't even get me started about grammar...

That's something that bothers me too along with the AIM spellings..the incorrect use of terms.

Liz, I understand what you are saying in the context of adults just chatting away with the teens in threads. Like it would be a little bit weird if a grown woman with children was chatting with us girls in the Girl Thread about our periods. I really don't think that would happen and if it did I think that person would be reported. As for parents asking questions about what to get there teens at WDW that is fine. Just the other day I was in a chatroom with Tinkerbell424 alone and in come a lot of adults(I mean older adults ranging in age of 40's to 60's. And they were all totally awsome. They let us join right in and had no problem with us being a part of there group. I think Tinkerbell424 would say the same thing as me. We both had a great experience in that chatroom that night.

Well I'm not saying you can't talk to older people, I'm sure they are nice. Its just when people come and post on, say, the Girl thread (like you said) it would be a little odd. (I know.. or at least I think you were agreeing with me, I just wanted to clear that up)

I agree Liz!

Thank you!

Your vocabulary is amazing, and your posts are so fun to read! I think you know just the right way to say everything. And you have more guts then almost everyone I know. You are my grammar hero!

No one was technically bashing her, some people just took offense to it. Mostly because she said America and here on the Disboards (not just the teen board) there are people from many different places. I understand that maybe teaching is not the way it used to be, but I can guarentee that there are just as many spelling errors on the Community board which is mostly (not completly) adults. It is not that people can't spell, its that on the Dis everyone just talks and unless what they are saying is illegable, we are not going to bash the person about it. I know I say "th" instead of "the" a lot and I don't realize it until someone quotes me.

Well, I know what retard means (to delay). But, if you consider me calling stupid people retards an incorrect use of terms, 'cool' would also be one.

'It's a cool day' would be proper use.

'Your new iPod is so cool' would be incorrect. But I'm sure you say cool in that way quite often. As do I. So I guess we're even on that one :goodvibes

Yes, I do wish people would learn to spell. It would make it so much easier to read.

I'm really surprised that someone under 13 would be allowed to join a message board, and I don't think someone over 19 would join here...unless they've been here for a while OR they're here for another reason.

Sorry if this has been said already..

But you're complaining about people bashing a post on the state of education in America, yet you're reffering to people as retards?

I hate it when people call someone ********. It isn't nice. The people who are mentally challenged can't help it.

::yes:: :sad2: That's what it sounds like to me..

Everyone has their own opinion. To each is own. I think everyone has their own opinion and they are entitled to that. There are many views on this.
1) There is no tween board, so they can post here.
2) Older people shouldn't post here because they have there own boards.
3) Non-teens should not post here because they are not mature enough.
4) Everyone can post here because there is no tween board, the "older" people are wiser, ect.

I think that as long as you are not a 60 yr. old posing as a 13 yr. old you can post here. As long as you are mature enough. Parents that ask questions about there kids is ok. But 5 yr. olds shouldn't post here because of the whole mature thing. This is just my view on it.

1) There is no tween board, so they can post here. True, goes along with 3 though.

3) Non-teens should not post here because they are not mature enough.- sometimes true, most times actually, but your not a teen either so that is kind of hypocritical.

This amazes me... how many 5 year olds do you know who can type? I want to meet one? :lmao: I'm just kidding. I kind of agree with what you are saying, you're kind of half way through my point.
