Should I wait for CBR pool?

We were planning on staying at CSR 9-1/9-8 so we would be there right after labor day and hopefully enjoy really low crowds and free dining again. But after reading about the new pool at CBR that is supposed to open 9-15 I'm thinking of waiting till 9-20/9-27 and staying at CBR and getting free dining and enjoying the new pool. From what I can gather is the crowds will be heavier later in September than what they are right after labor day, so what would you do wait for the new pool and have heavier crowds or just try to get CSR for the week I wanted anyways?

Unless they are making MAJOR changes to the CBR pool, I don't see how it can compare to the CSR one. We've stayed at both and the CBR pool wasn't very good. We prefered our "quiet pool" in our village because it was BIGGER than the main pool. Meanwhile, the Coronado Springs pool area and slide may be among the best in all of Disney World.

If you've never been to either, then you owe it to yourself to get some more info about what the changes are going to be to CBR. For me, I would take everything at CSR over CBR any day of the week.

Well I've been reading all morning about the changes to the CBR pool and it looks like it will be pretty awsome, looks like they are tearing the whole thing down and starting from scratch. Looks like it will have a few slides and waterfalls and a pirate ship. I have only been to Pop so am having a bit of a hard time picking which mod to go to this trip.

You don't indicate if you have kids (I'm assuming you do since you are worried about the pool, etc.). How old are they? Will you be taking them out of school? Will it be better to take them out early or later in the month? Our boys (age 22 and 20 now), loved the Coronado for the pool and the jaguar slide, as well as the playground, the arcade and the volleyball court.

Yes one kid, daughter and she will be about 3 and a half so she is not in school yet so we can go whenever. Loves to swim and go down the slides, actually going to an indoor water park in 2 weeks!!:cool1:

CBR is awesome, but if you can wait until after the refurb, I definitely would. The quiet pools with the slide setups are probably fine, but the new main pool looks really great.

We usually arrive during the last week of September into October, and this is our favorite time to go. I think crowds are very manageable. It isn't June, that's for sure. It was packed. Someone in the know could probably give you more info on your dates.

Have a great trip!

Denise

Just FYI, I have a trip booked for Sept 20-27th and my very nice CM told me I would need to change my dates to an earlier time to get free dining.. if it were offered...wink..wink.. So I guess we will find out for sure next week.

Does anyone have a link to this information about the new pool at CBR? I haven't heard that much about it. If they truly are making it a great new pool area, then all I can say is "it's about time." No matter what they do, it will be hard to beat the CSR pool area.

I don't think you can go wrong at the CSR; we will be at the CSR for the 7th time September 1 - 9. But if your heart is set on CBR, then change your dates. However, watch your dates as some people have indicated the dates for free dining this year will be a little different.

KatMark, do you already have your room booked at CSR? I just tried to book and it says nothing is available for those dates?

Yes, I do. My DH and I booked on the bounceback offer when we were there last year because we knew we would be going for our anniversary. My BF and her DH booked in November for the same dates as us. I wonder if they are not taking books for certain days in anticipation of Free Dining being offered soon?

That's weird...and doesn't make sense. I understand you not wanting to deal with Labor Day crowd. We flew in the Saturday before Labor Day last year and Sunday was really, really crowded. By Monday, that was cut in half, and by Tuesday we were walking on everything in 10 minutes and under. This year we decide to fly out on Labor Day and do HS at night for Extra Magic Hours since our friends are only staying six days as opposed to our nine and we have to get in as much as possible for them to do while they are there. If you can get the Caribbean for the dates you want, I'd book that. If your heart is set on CSR, I'd keep calling...I know things often open up. Good luck.

We flew in last year on Labor Day and the crowds were GREAT, the heat was BAD though but we managed. Thanks for the tips.

Just a word of caution. Sometimes Disney's dates for reopening pools/attractions get pushed back. We had this happen to us 2 years ago. We booked ASMo and the pool was being refurbished. It was to reopen in December weeks before our trip. It turns out it didn't reopen until months later after our trip was over.

Thats another thing I've been thinking about. I work in the construction industry so I know how schedules go sometimes. I think I'm just going to stick with my original date and try for CSR, if that is not available maybe try POR.

Have stayed at CSR. What a great pool.

We are going to CBR from 8/30-9/9. We had hoped to book CSR but as you found out there is no availability. When I spoke to the CM, she said to keep checking b/c some of those rooms may be blocked out for conferences so they may become available. :)
