So I've had the Flu since Friday, but Saturday and Sunday we just thought bad allergies, I think I'm over the fever for the most part, but joints hurt now, hope better by the 8th when we fly down, if not should we look into getting a wheelchair?

If you can afford the $15. It's totally worth it not to be miserable putting ing strain on your joints for a long day. But also, make sure someone is willing/able to push you all day (or for as much of the day as you use it). I pushed my husband around half a day, but it was really hard at AK cause its all up & down hills. We took turns pushing his father at all 4 parks another visit and between 5 of us, none ever got tired :)

By your picture you look young and fit.. Meaning ( I am no Dr. ) but if your joints are hurting then you are still sick and suffering from the flu. IMO I wouldnt go to any theme park.

Today is the 3rd.. you have almost a week. Some flus can last weeks, but you said you are better now. I wouldnt worry about it till you are there. You can always rent short term.

Nobody will know if you will be capable of touring the parks without a wheelchair except you.

I'm not doctor either, and I am kind of over weight, but 26 and getting fit. We already have to tickets, unless we can return them to get tickets for another day we are going, fever is gone both times I checked temperature today

I've been told the general rule is that once your temp has been normal for 24 hours, you should no longer be contagious and be fit to go out in public if you feel like it.

The bigger issue is going to be fatigue/stamina and that is something only you can answer, and probably not until closer to the trip. Fortunately, WCs are usually pretty available. I would recommend is that you research and decide which off-site company you want to rent from if necessary (Offsite companies are usually cheaper than renting from Disney day by day). I usually use Apple as they are low priced and a preferred provider, which means they can leave the chair at the resort for you to pick up when you get there, and you can leave it with the bell services for pickup when you leave. But there are stickies at the DISabillities forum that list the providers that have gotten good feedback from DISers.

Then, when it gets down to the wire, if you are not sure whether you need it or not, you can try going without. If you wear out too quick, you can rent one in the park that day, and call your selected provider to have one dropped off at your resort for the next day. You don't have to sit in it all the time. You can park it in stroller parking and walk for a while, or you can put your park bag or backpack in the chair so you don't have to carry it and walk using the chair for support. Remember, though, some of the queues are very long -- Soaring is 1/4 mile in and another 1/4 mile back out.

If the heat and humidity knock you out too much, you might want to consider going to a first aid station to lay down for a bit. They have comfy cots in dark air-conditioned spaces (some in curtained off cubbies, some in individual rooms. My friend sometimes has to go lay down for 30 min or so until her migraine meds kick in, and there's never been a problem. They would rather have you spend 30 min in the First Aid station, then get back out there spending money, than having to go all the way back to your resort and possibly take the whole afternoon off. :)

If it's regular old influenza, your joints will probably be fine by then. Doubt you would need a wheelchair five days from now.

If you rent one as needed at the park - be sure that it rolls right. If it pulls or sticks, it will be miserable for the person pushing it.

Hope you feel back to normal soon.

Answers (and indictments) here will vary. I lean towards "no," but I'm not a doctor. I'd recommend asking your primary care physician.

I'd play it by ear. If you're still achy, I'd rent one when you get there.

as of right now I can barely walk, but hoping even if I have to take off work better by Tuesday when we go to miami, we go to parks Thursday and Friday we cruise the Disney Magic

I don't know if you have to reserve them before your trip or if they will be available when you get there but I would at least reserve one if you can. Last year my dh thought he was recovered from the flu because he had felt better for a few days. I forget what he did but he over exerted himself and ended up feeling really bad for a few days after. You have 5 days and should be feeling better but you definitely don't want to over do it.

Too bad, it stinks being sick at disney but is better then being sick at home... I would honestly rent a scooter. The parks seem nice and flat when you are walking around but trust me they are not... The person pushing you will be miserable... Good luck, keep your park days short and lots of sitting at the pool... :)
