Here was our bad expereince, it was only 3 days and it was after we were at the poly and beach club.
First we paid for a deluxe savannah room. I got each of our 3 dss a disposable camera for picture taking from the balcony and binoculars for viewing. Our room was so far away from the elevators etc. We were I believe on the 4th floor. All we ever saw were animal butts. The only animals that ever came to our area only came when they bought the feed truck around. They never free roamed as they said. they had to be brought there with food bribes. No matter what time of the day or night we looked out the balcony we saw maybe a cattle or 2 or something far off in the distance. The couple next to us were from england and we had a joke on the balcony as my dh would shout something like come on ranger bob and bring the food truck because I have paid lots of money to see these animal butts. They laughed so loud. We did complain about our view and they said they had only rooms left closer to the pool and that it would actually be a downgrade for us, not an upgrade. the cm was rather rude as was the bellman. He said oh the family does not like their room view, well for the almost $300 per night we paid for that place I wanted to like it. She Cm said, oh do you know how many people complain about their room view.
One day there were dirty towels left behind the bathroom door and never cleaned obviously.
Room very dark but know this is the atmosphere.
Ice machine broke and nearest one was a mile away lol. I knew at that time the mousekeeper heard me say something in the hall and she did agree to get me some ice, I politely declined.
Going to swim the dss were being attacked by tons of mosquitoes, this was at night and we decided to retreat to the room instead of being constantly attacked by the critters.
DH had a business meeting with someone and we were all eating. I had to excuse myself from Bomas because I got food poisoning from something I ate there. I was up in the room sick for hours.
We went into the gift shop and they told us the craftsman will talk to you etc. The guy refused to interact or speak to us and dss were intently watching what he was doing.
During storytime outside my ds said it was boring and he has heard these things before, o.k. that might have been true as we have friends who have lived in africa. Little ds kept up the mantra of take me back to the poly , take me back to the poly etc.
At the mara I burnt my mouth on the spices of the sugar caned chicken and dh had to get me about 6 cokes to take care of it. oh also the cm apologized for us waiting so long for our food, she lost our order, huh?
Inquired about childrens activites and all I saw was cookie baking, sorry 3 dss were not interested.
Dss were drooling when we walked back to our room on the same floor as the elevator people had their room doors open and were shouting oh look we see a giraffee etc. Well let me tell you that was not us for sure!!!
But guess what on our last day we had to get up at 5:30 am to meet the mears guy (never again) and low and behold what do we see in the public viewing window as we are dragging our tired bodies out the ak lodge, well if it isn't 2 giraffess that we come face to face with, gee too bad we are in a sleepy fog and our cameras are packed up etc. Well just when I thought the nightmare was over we had to make about 4 more stops to pick up all the other mears people, wow its the honeymoon couple from cs who tells us he got food poisioning too and laid in bed the last 2 days, wait its not over yet next comes a grandma and grandpa from carribean beach. Oh no, grandpa is in a wheelchair with a cast. Grandpa tells us he has broken his arm getting into the disney bus during a rainstorm. Tells us his son is a lawyer in california. Oh gee. will this nightmare end, yes very soon, we are finally at MCO. Good bye disney. Next time we will not be at the akl or in a mears van. Happy to report our trips since then have been pretty magical.
