I was wonder if maybe I should upgrade my free regular dining that we will get while staying at POFQ to the deluxe dining? Since the mugs are not included in the regular dining plan and they are included in the deluxe plan. If we stay with the regular plan we are planning on buying the mugs anyway which cost $13.99 each totaling $41.97 for 3 of us. I'm not sure how much more the deluxe plan is, does anyone know ? We did use all of our regular dining plan last time we were at disney and ran out of snacks before our last day. So I'm sure we will use most of the extra snacks and meals if we chose to go to deluxe.

This year, the DDP is ~$46 per person per night, DxDDP is ~$79 per person per night. So the difference is ~$33 per adult per night. (It's $10 for kids).

I wouldn't do it unless you were spending ~3/4 of your credits at TS meals, which would mean you'd likely have to book a few more meals than you have already (not to mention the 3 course meals twice a day plus the time factor).

It works for me, but is certainly not worth it for everyone.

So it would cost us 34.03 extra subtracting the cost of the mugs that we would have to buy if not upgrading, that is about the cost of 1 quick service meal. It may be worth it even if we book 1 extra table service meal ?

I don't quite understand is the additional 34.03 is per person, or per night, or if that's the entire OOP additional cost after the mugs. Regardless, the DXDP is usually a better deal if you do mostly TS. We paid to upgrade from free QS to DXDP because, once you add in all the OOP meals we needed (to keep our 3 meal/day routine), the mugs, any additional drinks/snacks/appys, it ended up being only a few hundred extra for deluxe (due to the extra tips, etc). Definetly worth a few hundred extra to us to eat well for the entire trip. We do all TS, because we like it, it gives a break, and we've been to WDW once annually since our honeymoon, so we keep a slightly lighter pace.

Well we already have the regular free dining and to upgrade would be 76.00 for 2 adults and 1 child. Subtracting the cost of mugs 76.00 - 41.97 = 34.03 :thumbsup2

No the diffrence is $33 per adult per night..so if you were staying for 5 nights it would be $165 more per adult. Not worth to get the mugs included.

Remember, that would be $76 per night. The cost of the mug is only a one time cost so you can only deduct that for one night.

So, yes, it would be $34 for the first night, but then $76 extra per night after that. You don't mention how many nights you are doing but I believe you had to do at least 3 nights for free dining so in that case, the upgrade would be at least $186.

NO, No, no....are you only staying for ONE night? The DxDP is $76 PER NIGHT of your stay. You need to subtract that $13.99 from the night of stays X $76.

ok I didnt know it was each night, we are only staying 4 nights. So that would not be worth it then, thanks for setting me straight :)

You know, I didn't realize before that you will be there during FREE dining, so your upgrade is $33 per person per night. That could still be a good deal for you and a chance to try Deluxe dining at a cost LESS than the regular DDP. You would have the credits to try out some of the signature restaurants, you could have breakfast everyday, and have all those snacks to enjoy.

So if you subtract the mug you will buy anyway, it would be $129 for each person (less for children). You would have 12 credits to use during your stay.

It's not FREE, but it's not totally out of the question expensive either.

What do you think?

Yeah that might be a thought, its still alot more then I had figured though :rotfl: Let me redo this math again lol I hope this is right now 304.00 for the 4 nights for 2 adults and 1 child, minus 41.97 that the mugs would of cost us. So that 304.00-41.97=262.03 is what it would cost us extra to upgrade to deluxe dining. I hope I got that right this time :)

It depends how you dine. It's worth it for me and my girlfriend. With three table service points, you can book accordingly to take HUGE advantage of the cost of the deluxe charge.

That's a thread I posted for opinions of places, but it gives the gist of how many places you can eat. I'm actually dropping most of the breakfasts to free up points, to dine at 3 signature dining during the stay.

I was also in the same dilemma staying POFQ the end of SEPT with 2 Adults 1 child. We are doing Hoop DD and CRT as well as some other TS and QS. We would have to pay OOP for some meals and the refill mugs. The cost for us to upgrade to DDDlx was around $450 for 6 nights. When I figured our OOP, mugs, extra food we would have to bring, we were only saving about $180.

So, I decided to upgrade and change some of our ARDS to more TS 2 credits like Le Cellier and Flying Fish and add a couple more meals for breakfast, which we were just going to do OOP or in room. If we have snack credits left, we plan on bringing home Mickey Krispie Treats for Souvniers for family & friends.

Also remeber on Deluxe, you can choose from TS or QS for same credit amount.

Good luck!

$262 for A LOT of food. You shouldn't have to do ANY OOP for food; no money needed for breakfasts, extra snacks, a drink or two while waiting for the parade... You do, however, need to figure in your tips for all that food. I know they deserve the tips, but sometimes that added expense is a bit of a downer.

So, with the FREE DDP, what would you do for your third meal? Would you bring food with you (that you had to pay for)? Would you buy snacks? That cost needs to be "subtracted" from that $262 to really see if it will be a value for you.

We have all Signature Dinners booked and all TS breakfast booked this trip. It is our first time with any dining plan, so we decided to upgrade to deluxe. :worship:Cafeen is a wiz at figuring out plans and cost analysis! She help me a lot to decide to upgrade to deluxe and how to get the most out of it!! We got a great deal when we booked, we are staying 7 days at POP, park hoppers, deluxe plan, airfare for $2400.00 for 2!!
