We will be in WDW December 7-12. Since we are not getting park hoppers this time around, we are strongly debating skipping HS and doing full days in MK instead, but I'm not sure. I hate wasting a park ticket on HS, but I do like the rides that are still open there. Thoughts???

We'll be there at the same time and, like last year, we're going to skip it. Even with park hoppers and staying right at Beach Club, there's just not enough there right now that grabs our attention.

Well, I would say it depends on how you feel about what is offered there. It hasn't really lost as much as it seems, plus there are then new Star Wars shows and stuff. If you like Star Wars then I would say absolutely go check that stuff out. If you don't, well then it's more of a tossup. More MK time is never a bad thing either.

There have been a number of threads on this issue lately. There is a wide variety of opinions, but, really, it depends what types of things you and your family enjoy. Maybe check out this thread https://www.disboards.com/threads/a...ios-threads-maddening-to-anyone-else.3636326/ which has some good thoughts on both sides. I always have Park Hopper, so we go to DHS for a couple of hours then move on. If I didn't have PH I would definitely skip DHS, but, again, that is just about what my family and I enjoy. Many others feel DHS remains the best of the Disney's parks. Enjoy your trip!

Depends what you want to ride and the shows. If you skipped HS a few years ago, skip it this time. If you had a full day last time, then go to it. Not much has closed in the last few years. It's still very much a full day park for those that want to do everything HS offers.

I personally have thought HS has been a half day park for years. So if I was using a single day ticket and no park hopper then I'd go to another park

I don't think my DW vacay would be the same without riding Star Tours and TSMM a couple times each. And as you're going in December they will have some of the new Christmas stuff going.
But I realize it is still more of a half day park. On my next trip me and my mom are gonna hit the rides in the morning, swoop on over to the Boardwalk in the afternoon, and then head back for the night shows.

I'll definitely check this out. I really do like HS, but I'd hate to waste a 1 day ticket on a currently half-day park. Especially since we have a reservation for HDDR that night.

I love HS, but that's because I love their "thrill rides". If you don't like upside down roller coasters, drop rides, or simulators, I would skip. But RnR and ToT are my favorites, in addition to Star Tours, so I never skip. It depends on what you like.

In the absence of parkhopper I would skip. We had a really nice morning there but it is somewhat sparse.

With a parkhopper, I would recommend.

We spent a morning there and went back another night specifically to see Fantasmic, but my group all had park hoppers or APs.

If you're not into Star Wars or Rockin Rollercoaster or Tower of Terror, there isn't much to do except see the shows. But not many of the shows are new except the Frozen Sing Along and the characters in Disney Junior. If you saw the Indiana Jones or Beauty and the Beast show 20 years ago, they haven't changed much since.

And that Order of the Star Wars March or whatever it's called is deafening. I couldn't get away from it quickly enough.

We are going later afternoon to ride ToT and TSMM. We planned to leave right after to head to Disney Springs, but now we may stay and try the new bar. :)

We spent 1 1/2 days there last trip. My kids love the thrill rides and ride over and over. We enjoy the shows, fantasmic and the fireworks.

TBH, we thought we'd be in and out of here with the construction. We spent TWO of six days here between rides, shows, characters and just the ambience of it all. We love HS and Fantasmic is our favorite nighttime offering. To each his own, however.

We've only been going to Disney for 3 years now but have gone numerous times and would never skip HS. My daughter just turned 48 inches so now we get to add R&R to our normal routine. Always do TSMM/ToT/Beauty Beast show/Star Tours. Now with Star Wars fireworks & R&R we'd use a full day ticket if necessary (but we hop every day with pool time in between whatever park we start at).

I have 3 daughters. 5,10,13. Our favorite park. In June we were there all day and didn't do everything. In 2019 it will be a 2 day park for us. Can't wait.
The Star Wars meet and greet was the best.

If you like Star Wars, don't skip it!
Personally, I love ToT and TSMM enough that it would be VERY hard for me to skip those attractions on any Disney vacation. I also really enjoy Star Tours and RnRC. And I love meeting Chewbacca -- one of the best meet and greets on property, I think!
If I didn't have hoppers, I would probably still do this park, but I would position it to be a "light" day... maybe mid-trip when a little rest is needed.

That said, if you are not into Star Wars and/or thill rides.. DEFINITELY skip.

I think it depends on what you want to do and who you're going with. I would look and see how many rides/shows/characters interest you and go from there. DH and I left after lunch, but we didn't do any of the shows and rode the bigger rides once. DH loves Star Wars, but he didn't feel like there was enough to keep him all day.
