Should I risk it? What are my chances?

My family is going to WDW in November, and we didn't have any points to use so we passed. Well, we are in the process of buying resale but we have a delayed closing. We should be closing in August.

I just found crazy cheap flight prices to go the week we wanted, but I have no points to make a reservation and I am not sure if there will be any availability when we do get points. Would you risk it and book the flights? I don't care where we stay, and don't care if we do a split stay - I just would rather not switch 3 times. Lol. What are my chances at getting a studio anywhere in mid Nov booking in September? (When I am assuming/hoping I will get them)

If you are talking mid-November as in after F&W ends, and before thanksgiving week, it might be worth a shot. We went that week 3 years in a row and found decent availability. However if you are talking about the weekend F&W ends/Veterans day then I would say with confidence that you have no shot on such short notice.

Ultimately it's a risk but November has very busy times in the beginning and end of the month with a relatively quiet week in between.

Since Thanksgiving is late this year, there is one week Nov 17-23, when you might find something available. If that is your week, you might get something. Otherwise, book something for cash if you really need to go.

I would maybe go one step further and say that after the 10th it should open up. F&W ends on the 10th, and that's the end of Veterans Day weekend and Jersey week. In fact, just looking at the 11th-23rd you could almost get all 12 nights right now if you wanted to split the stay between Boardwalk and Beach Club.

Definitely arriving before the 11th would be virtually impossible though.

I would not chance it, unless you're willing to pay for the cash res. Booking in Sept would be 2 months out. Most places fill up by then. You'd be left with maybe SSR and only a few consecutive nights available.

Thanks for the info everyone! It would be the week in between Veterans day and Thanksgiving, but I think we are safer to just pass. :guilty:

DVC has spoiled me to not want to pay cash prices, and even though I am itching to go during Christmas (still never been) we will be headed down to FL in April for my friends wedding and I am hoping to sneak in a quick trip afterward.

Thanks again!

We were in the same boat last year - closed on our contract in mid-August and booked a 1BR at AKV-Kidani for the weekend before Thanksgiving. Flights were 1/2 the cost of what I just booked last night for Jersey Week this year (!!!)

Depending on how long you want to stay, I don't think you'll have a problem booking after Veterans Day ... and before Thanksgiving ...

If you're saving big $$ on the flights, what's the worst that could happen? - you may have to book a night or two at a Value Resort? Stay at SSR or OKW?

BTW - great time of year to visit ... cool weather and small crowds ...

While I don't know about November availability, we were in a similar situation when we bought our first DVC contract. We closed in December, and several weeks earlier I had already booked flights for a January trip. I was biting my nails waiting to close. We ended up easily getting a 1 BR at OKW for our entire stay.

Listening to everyone else's opinions on availability I would book the flights, and hope for the best.

In my opinion, crazy cheap flights mean we are going.

We also have an annual pass, so when airfare is low we book a flight.

Prices out of PIT have not been so great since AirTran and SWA are not competing.

I took advantage of this recent sale.

I would book a value, just in case, to be sure you had a place to stay, and take a chance.

Air fare is such a large expense. Our traveling is flexible, so the cost of flights has a lot to do with when we travel.
