Should I ride the tower of terror?

My Dad made me go on it when I was younger. Everytime I had a Fever, I would Dream that I was on that Ride, and Falling. I *HATED* that ride. And I haven't been on it since. But you know what? Going on the Rock 'N Roller Coaster got me over my Fear of Heights/Roller Coasters, so I'm going to give the TOT another try when I go back for my Trip in March!

Good for you! You might find you love it this time!

The way I think (but don't get me wrong I LOVE this ride...it's one of my faves), is that Mickey wouldn't hurt anyone. No reason to be afraid. I just have to get over my "hatred" for Dinsoaur. I have promised that I would ride it again this trip WITHOUT closing my eyes and ears! :lmao:

I'm not sure what either of you are talking about.

I rode ToT for the very first time about 2.5 weeks ago, so I don't know what you mean by lap bars. When I rode it, we wore seat belts, the exact type of seat belts that are used at rides like Soarin' and Test Track.
The original ToT had lap bars which were pulled down over your legs. The, "jump seat," (middle seat/back row) had a seat belt from the start.

btw, if you hold your hands over your head, it's MUCH better. :)

Also, riding it at night is different than during the day.

AND, the new software has a random program for the drops. I believe it has 6 different programs is randomly selects from so it can be different each time you ride it. :)

I'll be on it later next week. Can't wait!

I love this ride and can't wait to go on it again in just a couple weeks! I hate the regular drop rides at amusement parks so I wasn't so sure about this one. The feeling is totally different. It's great! That being said, I'm trying to figure out if my 3 year old should be allowed to go on it. My husband says no, I say yes. Of course, we won't have him go on it if he doesn't want. Would you let a daredevil 3.5 year old on it if he wanted to?

The question was asked "what you hold onto?" on ToT. In all rows except for the front, there is a handle/bar of sorts on the framework of the row in front of you. I agree, holding those arms high is great fun on ToT, but it's definitely for everyone...

Well . . . it makes you feel like you're in an elevator that just broke and is now crashing to the ground! :) But, the fun part is . . . it isn't broken and you get pulled back up and down so fast that for a few seconds you feel almost weightless! It is one of my family's favorite rides! My youngest was only 5 when she first went on it and she's loved it ever since! Give it a try!

Is this ride really scary? I am not into rollercoasters etc (I was too chicken to do splash mountain or space mountain even though I wanted too). I have heard the effects on the tower of terror are great but is it actually really scary to ride? TIA

Take it from an 'oldmainenurse' ToT is great! Just take a chance and try it. The only ride at WDW I won't do is RnR. That's because it goes upside down. Two months ago I rode EE for the first time. I was nervous but had to try it once. Well, I didnt get back in line to ride it again but I will definitely do it again next trip. I feel that when you go to WDW you have to open yourself up to these new experiences, other wise you'll never know how much fun you can have. Go for it !!!!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Uh, yeah it's terrifying. I love Splash Mountain and Space Mountain is fun, but a little scary for me. Tower of Terror terrified me. Honestly if you can't do Splash Mountain, stay away from ToT. The worst part for me was there was nothing to hold onto.

In a way I'm glad I did it, but I will absolutely, for no reason, ever do it again.

Lovely. I just happened to get the seat with nothing to hold onto. I didn't realize the other rows could hold on.

Definately ride! DH and I were too scared our first trip and didn't ride, but on our second trip back decided we had to give it a try. It definately is a rush, but it is awesome. TT has become one of our favorite rides at Disney, give a try and I think you'll love it! :Pinkbounc

:woohoo: :yay: :cool1: It is the absolute best!!!!! My mother rides it and she doesnt go on many rides. It is scary :scared1: in a fun way, not in a sick to your stomach way, we go on it several times in a row, it never gets old! :thumbsup2

ride it once to get your scaries out. And then ride it again and again to enjoy it! :thumbsup2

Try it at least once. I guarantee you will love it.
I could go on and on about how wonderful the good ole Hollywood Tower Hotel is, but you need to see it for yourself. :thumbsup2

(P.S., if you don't want to ride it, atleast go through the queue and take the chicken exit out. The queue is amazing.)

Try it once. If you don't like it, then it was only seconds off of your life to miss!!!!

The front rows have hand bars to hold onto made into the seats. My 4 year old rode it 5 times in one day when we went in October. He just closed his eyes during the scary parts and we told him when to open his eyes to see the park view. I can't stand SM anymore. The drop is too much for me but
ToT is my favorite ride at Disney. The up and down is better for my stomach than the straight drop of SM.

Ride it once just to say that you've ridden it. That's what I did. Once I got off, I said never again!! Of course, I went on it again on the next trip...and when I got off, I said 'never again' lol. I'll probably end up riding it one more time, just because everyone else does :) .

I love ToT, but have to be honest. If Splash or Space Mountain are too much for you, you should probably steer clear of ToT. It is scary, especially for people who get scared on rides.

I rode in the front row a couple of weeks ago and there was a handle on either side of my seat (I know, because I was gripping both of them like my life depended on it!)

Last year I also rode, but in the back row, and I seem to recall holding on to the same "handles" then, too. I don't ever recall holding on to something in front of me.

I'm the chicken who asked my 10 year old niece to take the aisle front seat because I was afraid the center compartment stayed open and I might fall out (forgot that the CM slides it shut after everybody's on board). She didn't mind -- she rode all the scariest rides alone. I joined her for RnR, ToT, and the Hulk at Universal.

GO for it!!! My (turned) 5 year old and 7 (then) yr old had a blast so I went on then after they did the first time. I am not into fast rollercoasters at all. :thumbsup2
