Should I reschedule?

When I do something I pretty much jump in both feet! (Not always to a favorable outcome!) We have never cruised before and will in April, 2005. So with our April cruise all planned I decided to plan a 7-day next October for our anniversary, since I have awhile to pay it off... So I book the second cruise. Now I'm wondering if maybe I should have waited to book the second cruise (maybe onboard the first cruise for the 10% and $200 off) and also we now have a Disney Visa, so we probably could have done something with that. So my question is, should I cancel the October 2005 cruise I have now and basically reserve it all over again to get the perks? We went thru DU. Thanks for any advice! ::MinnieMo

You can keep the reservation and once you are onboard, they will give you the 10% and onboard credit. You shoulden't cancel....you willl lose your early bookings savings.

This is the way it works when you book directly with disney...i'm not sure hoe they will do it when you book with a TA.

Have a great cruise!

Really? I didn't realize that. If you already booked with DCL and then go on board, they will apply the onboard savings to a reservation you made BEFORE you got on the cruise?

That would be wonderful.

From what we were told last time, the onboard savings is ONLY if you book while onboard for a new cruise. They told us if we left the ship without reserving the reservation and then called later to book it, we would not get the onboard perks.

I don't think a pre-reserved cruise is going to qualify. Call them and ask.

Because of the way Disney prices their sailings, I would hold onto the ressie you have now and check the price once you're on board. It may, or may not, be cheaper on board.

When we sailed last October we had already booked to cruise again this year. When on board we checked with Donna and it was cheaper to rebook when you added in the onboard credit and 10% off. We booked onboard and then when we got home cancelled our original ressie which was with Dreams.

In fact Donna had already asked if we wanted to use Dreams again so they were waiting for our call to cancel the first ressie. This meant we also got the Dreams rebate on our cruise.

The only slight drawback was that we had to pay another deposit but we got the deposit on the first ressie refunded quite quickly so it wasn't too much of a problem.

I don't think they will honor your existing ressie and discount it....however, you certainly should price the booking while on board. They will gladly re-book you at the "onboard" rate, and then you can cancel the original ressie when you get home. It is unlikely that an October cruise will be on a new pricing tier by April (October is hurricane season and normally has some of the cheapest rates)....however, you won't know that for sure till you are on board. Keep the old until you book the new!
