We will be on the dining plan next trip and I booked Ohana for dinner on our arrival night. I really enjoyed it last trip but didn't get the full experience since we were up at 4 am(travel day) and our adr was at like 8:30pm.

I would love to try it again but part of me doesn't want to repeat any meals we have tried since there are so many places I want to try.

A few places I would like to try and would most likely use to replace....
Chefs de France
Tony's
Crystal Palace (we have only tried breakfast, so this would be lunch or dinner)
Boma dinner
Garden Grill (not thrilled with the menu but Chip and Dale are there)
1900 Park Fare (although DD does not want to see the stepsisters, I like them:thumbsup2)

Also planned for this trip:
House of Blues
T-rex
WCC
Chef Mickey's for breakfast
Via Napoli
Akershus for breakfast

It will be DH, DD5 who are both a little picky.. and myself.
Any feedback would be great!

I wouldnt replace Ohana just b/c I LOVE it, it use to be a tradition to eat here our first night..

If you really want to replace it Id do it in whatever park or near the resort your staying in, we always like to make first night relaxing.

We chose to do Via Napoli for lunch and come back to our resort around 3 to unpack, swim and enjoy the club lounge and resort. This way we are well rested for rope drop the next morning..

I would replace o'hana. For the life of me I don't get what people like about this restaurant. Out of your list I would pick Boma's hands down. Go early and explore the AK resort , look at the animals etc. Second choice would be Chef de France. I would not have dinner at Tonys . Food isn't good. I use to love it there for breakfast but they stopped that awhile ago.

I agree that that the first night it is good to stay around the hotel for dinner. We alway eat at Cape May as we stay at the BCV's. It is so much nicer to be close when you are tired. :cloud9:

We eat at 'Ohana every trip. Never get tired of it. I will say, however, this last trip the meat was super dry and overcooked. But the best dessert on property, bread pudding with bananas foster and ice cream, makes up for it. :goodvibes You may want to try a character meal at dinner like Crystal Palace. While it is super busy and loud, the character interaction is good and the food is pretty good too. Have fun!

I wouldnt swich O'hana! I love that resturant, something about it. Wonderful atmosphere/ service/ and food! if I were you, dont swich. Because its wonderful! I also at at Boma. Ehh...it was okay. It felt like I was eating my dinner in a big, open, loud cafeteria. Food was good. But if I had to pick, Boma or O'hana? By far, I would go for O'hana. Hope it helps! :)

We didn't really get the full Ohana experience last visit either as I stupidly made it as one of our last ADRs and by the end of a 9 day trip on the DDP you just really aren't all that hungry :goodvibes

This time I have made Ohanas our first ADR. I think it's worth trying again in your case. If not though please reconsider 1900PF if you are planning dinner there. The food is borderline inedible and it doesn't get good reviews so it isn't just us that thinks so:scared1: CP lunch is very nice, we are trying dinner this time. Garden Grill is served family style as Ohana is too so if thats appealing to you? But if you don't like the food then are you sure you really would enjoy yourself??

You won't be disappointed with Akershus breakfast! We LOVE it there, we are going to try lunch this time though.

My family loves Crystal Palace for dinner. It's got plenty of yummy options for picky eaters! Can't imagine a picky eater who would like 'Ohana as I'm not too picky and I didn't care for it at all.

Crystal Palace was our fav new place last trip. We had dinner and all agreed that it was excellent.

OP...I know what you mean about not doing repeats. That was the goal last time around but it's hard not to. I would say that since you didn't feel like you truely had the Ohana experience then keep your ADR. If you want to switch how about Kona?

we try to keep some favorites and try at least one new place each trip - o'hana dinner is a new one for us this year. we tried garden grill and chefs last year. wouldn't go back to garden grill - food was at best ok - we did have a good server though. chefs was the opposite - good food - ok service. we really like crystal palace - my ds 13 is very picky and really likes cp. if you are picky, i wouldn't go to boma for dinner - b'fast yes but dinner no.not enough to choose from for picky eaters (imho). good luck deciding.

I would replace it but thats because I didn't like Ohana's. I think you will get much better food & service at Kona cafe. But if you are on the regular dining plan, you will get more courses, which I think has to do with why people also like it so much - they get an app too. I would do Chefs but thats in an entirely different part of WDW, which is why I recommended Kona, on top of liking it a lot.

O'hana is a must for us on every trip and I don't think you should replace it. Especially since you didn't fully enjoy it on your last trip - it is worth repeating.

Thanks for all the replies. I guess I'll have to think about it for a bit. I would hate to cancel it and then a few months down the line wish we were going there. I was thinking of maybe trying Kona, but I just have this feeling that if we go to Kona DH will see Ohana and ask why we aren't going there? (although he wants nothing to do with any planning)

why would you replace ohana, it's so hard to get. and it's very good.

I would skip crystal palace or 1900 park fare, food mediocre at best.
