My family & I are planning on going to WDW on Dec 3 & leaving Dec 10.
Hoping to reserve the WL the first 5 nights and then retreat to the AKL Sav view the last 2 nights. :goodvibes
However, it has come to my attention we are going "Pop Warner Week" and I am geting nervous.
Between the larger crowds already this year & planning for a time that I thought was typically low... :confused3
Has anyone been there this week in previous years?
I would assume the parks during the day shouldn't be too bad, but the nights might be rough (which is ok, we have 2 small children so we aren't there very late ;) ) Should also be concerned b/c there are 4 MVMCP's scheduled during that week?

We were at WDW the same week in December 04, and Pop Warner wasn't a factor for us at all. You'll get differing opinions on this, but it appears that the people who are most bothered by the Pop Warner kids are those who stayed at the same value and moderate resorts as the kids (some stayed at POR). We were at CBR. We barely even noticed the kids in the parks - only a few small groups. MGM did close at 6 PM that Friday for their private use. I didn't think they affected crowd levels at all. The only effect of having four MVMCP's in that week would be that MK is closed to the general public at 6 PM on those nights, so just plan your touring accordingly. We found crowd levels still pretty low that week, although a bit higher than in previous years at the same time, but certainly nothing to be concerned about. It's a great time of year to visit, with the mild temperatures and Christmas decorations and festivities. Since you're staying at deluxe resorts, you can be sure the Pop Warner kids won't be there. Go and enjoy.

Don't reschedule and don't worry. That is a great week to go. Great atmosphere and low crowds. I have been twice during Pop Warner Week. The difference in crowd levels because of them is minimal at best. You will see them aruond the parks and stuff at night but I personally have not had a problem with them. Was kinda fun to hear some of the cheers actually.

Myst :flower:

My family will also be in WDW that week (4-11th). From what I've read on other threads...it seems like as long as you are not staying at a value resort, you'll be fine. Seems like they hang out in droves at the food courts of the value resorts. Most posters stated that they didn't even notice them in the parks. I think there's one night they close MGM early for the Pop Warner party or something like that...besides that - I don't expect to have any issues.

You're going to WDW .... there is NEVER going to be any time when its not crowded, or when there is not some group or another..

We were there last year at this time at a moderate resort and didnt really notice them sure they were there but most were well behaved now some of the moms were pretty obnoxious but most of the kids were very nice and polite now I heard that at the value they were pretty numerous .

I actually wrote WDW about this same issue (I'm going Dec 3-11th) and I got an e-mail and a later phone call from a representative who set my mind at rest. They do close MGM early for them one night, I was told our resort should be no problem because we are at a deluxe resort, as you would be. Same with the restaurants, the sit down restaurants aren't really affected. I'm hoping to do Cirque and some of the clubs on Pleasure Island and was told these would also be unaffected. During the day the kids have competitions so they aren't anywhere as one mega group although various teams who aren't competing at the time will be around in the parks. If you have some specific concerns you could e-mail WDW, I just used a contact us form from their website, and they will get in touch with you.

I don't think rescheduling is necessary. I'm not really changing anything except maybe to avoid MGM on Friday. Good luck!

I agree with all the above posters. We were there during that week last year, and I never realized it until several days into our vacation. I would notice a group of cheerleaders here and there in the parks, and then I finally put it together - duh! But really, they were no problem for us.

I agree with puckhead bill. Disney always seems to be crowded and there's always some kind of group. I remember a few years ago talking to a woman who was soo smug because she planned (over planned!!) her trip to Disney for the end of September (no kids she said!!). They planned their days sooo carefully, being very picky about what days in what parks, etc. Well, the day they planned for Epcot there was some kind of "Florida school days" education in Epcot thing. I laughed when she told me that Epcot was packed with kids!! I've learned over the years to just plan when we can go and don't worry about who will be there. I would go, Pop Warner is there every year, my town goes annually. If you plan another time you may run into other groups.

Have a Great Vacation!!!

That is the exact dates we are going and I'm not going to worry about Pop Warner at all. We will be staying at the Poly so I'm sure we won't encounter many of them there. We will avoid MGM on Friday but other than that we are planning on having a GREAT time :cool1:

See you there (maybe)

Thanks everyone!
I just got nervous~
We actually were there one year during a Night Of Joy & it really wasn't bad at all~ at that only happened at night so you'd think the parks would have been more crowded then they were but they were definately managable! We stayed at the Poly, so we heard the music from the MK, but we so tired at the end of the day it really didn't bother us at all!
We should be fine, you all have definately helped put my mind at ease!
Now I just need to start the countdown!
(oh ya, book the rooms, buy the MVMCP tix & hopefully book LTT before 6pm, make dining arrangements for the rest of the trip, ...
:rotfl2: )
