We are taking our second trip to Disney in a little over 60 days. I made my ressies months ago, but am starting to reconsider some of them. Tell me what you think. We are not "sophisticated" diners, but not timid about trying new things either. Most are lunchtime meals because it works for our schedule and also because meal prices are a bit cheaper (we are not on the dining plan and do not intend to do it this time because the kids are 10 and 12 and it wasn't cost effective for how we eat).
You'll probably notice quickly that we enjoy the meals that involve some form of entertainment...

Le Cellier (hubby is a steak lover - so this seemed like a must)

Chefs (Hoping to see Remy, but rethinking this now??)

Whispering Canyon (The kids' must have since DH can't go through a meal without requesting more ketchup and refills on drinks. He has no clue about the running gags there and they can't wait.)

Chef Mickey's (Only doing this for Mickey & Friends, other suggestions welcome, but we weren't impressed with Cape May last time.)

1900 PF Dinner with Cinderella (A Must for the Tremaines)

Crystal Palace (I love Eeyore)

T Rex (kids & DH want a repeat)

Rainforest Cafe (Have never been to one and since they love T Rex, I figured they'll love this too. Too much the same???)

Bomas (DH and I want a repeat. YUM)

50s Prime Time (Sounded good and fun)

Sci Fi (This is a must do for the kids, missed our ADR last time)

Mickey's Backyard BBQ (THIS IS MY BIGGEST CONCERN, Should I do HDDR instead?? IF I can still get ressies??)

Yak & Yeti (Just needed a AK park choice and this seemed best. Suggestions welcome)

My biggest concern is Mickey's Backyard BBQ. I "think" the kids would enjoy this even though they are older. When we go camping, they love the campground dances, and we all like the characters. Also since the kids are older, we wouldn't have a problem staying until the very end when I "hear" it gets quieter and less crazy with kids running around the dancefloor. But I'm still worried about this one.
My other problem is that I love the atmosphere of the restaurant in the Mexico pavilion (never eaten there though), DNiece just came back and highly recommended the restaurant in Italy, and the Japanese restaurant (where they cook on the grill in front of you) looks fun. So hard to choose!!!

Help Please!!!

I too was back & forth between MBB & HDDR but decided against both in the end. I had looked on You Tube at HDDR and it didnt impress me at all and glad i look first. I would rather use 1 table credit and get the same food at Trails End. MBB we would have gone in August in the heat (probably not the greatest idea). I would take a look at the videos and see if its something you would like. It just didnt seem up to Disney standards to me.

Chef Mickeys was good, we ate their for dinner and had a great time. I especially loved the chicken pasta alfredo which is something i didnt find at the other buffets.

The food at HDDR has really declined. It is no where near as good as it used to be. In my opinion, it's not worth the money anymore. You pay for the entertainment, not so much the food.

The Trail's End buffet at Fort Wilderness is really good. There are various kinds of BBQ, fried chicken, veggies and some great desserts. We recently ate there for the first time and I enjoyed it. So did my husband, who went crazy with the BBQ ribs. It's also part of the dining plan.

Good luck and have fun!

Rainforest--too much of the same if you are already doing T-Rex

Chef Mickey's(been several)--try someplace that you really want the food--take the kids to the picture spots to see the characters (especially since they've seen them before)

HDDR-not a fan...if you are a really campy family as you say, you might enjoy the MBYBQ--and you would still get characters that you would be missing if you dropped Chef Mickey's...

I have heard that the food at San Angel is much improved and it is beautiful (been countless times). I am not a fan at all of Tutto (been twice). Teppan Edo is great food and great fun. Your kids are at a great age to enjoy Teppan Edo.

Your definite choices do sound good. Hope this helps!
