I have been reading about AKL being closed until September 1st and I am starting to get a bit nervous. I am booked to stay the 14th through the 22nd for a surprise trip. Out of all the resorts this one is the most desired by DH to stay at and I thought I would surprise him for his birthday.

I have requested to stay in zebra trail floors 3 or 4 standard savahanna view and I am starting to doubt our stay will be memorable with all the construction hoopla!

I would love to keep my ressies!

Should I wait it out and take a chance or start looking for another resort?

Sit tight...I think the whole issue is being grossly overstated....if you change now you will have to foot the bill for any upgrade...if it becomes necessary later Disney will take care of it.

In spite of the widespread hysteria, people returning this weekend from the AKL report amazing trips, very little noise if any and no disruption from the construction....you have enough time to follow what is going on with the construction and request a move later if it looks like it will be a problem. If you have your heart set on staying there, then I would not bail out just yet...

We have early August reservations (club level so we are not being moved) and I think it may be kind of nice to have a less crowded resort!

I hadn't heard the resort was closed. We have reservations Sept. 4-10!!! I'm getting nervous.

I agree and think this is sound advice. Sit tight. Note that all of the DVC units on the Zebra Trail have estimated openings in September 2007, except for those units that had earlier estimated openings. The implication is that if you stay at AKL in September or later and are assigned the Zebra Trail, your resort experience may be minimally affected by construction, if it is affected at all.

I think it would be amazing for people to get one of the new DVC units! Could you imagine, being the first to stay there! I also agree that while the restaurants may not be any less crowded, the pool will surely be heaven with a good part of the resort relocated! Remember, every cloud has its silver lining. Don't panic, and good luck!
