Should I have ME pick up my luggage?

We are arriving at MCO at 8:45 P.M. on Saturday February 12:cool1:. So my question is, should I go ahead and have ME pick up our luggage, or should I just grab it since it will be so late? I just didn't want to have to wait 3 hours for our luggage, as we will probably be in bed by then.

So what are y'alls thoughts on that please...;)

I always grab my own luggage, regardless of what time I get in. I hate waiting for it because when I get to the room, the first thing I like to do is unpack and get settled before I can relax. I usually need stuff from my bag right away too. I don't know how long it would take for your bags to be deliverered at that time of night, but I'd say just grab them yourselves if it's not too much to lug.

I would let ME get your luggage and have it delivered in the morning. Picking up your own luggage will add at least 20 minutes to your trip -- more if your luggage is delayed.

Regardless of whether you pick it up or have it delivered, you need to pack everything you'll need for the first 24 hours in your carry on. Trust me, airlines do sometimes misdirect luggage.

Last October was my latest Disney trip, and I had a late flight arrival. I called the Magical Express phone number and asked them how they wanted to handle my luggage (since I would be arriving late). I was told to pick it up myself and bring it on the bus. After a certain time, they stop picking up for the evening. Anyway...it worked out fine...picked up my suitcase, got on the bus...no problem.

DME baggage handlers are 'off the clock' at 10pm. Any tagged bags that arrive after that time are gathered up and put away for the night..then they are collected in the morning and delivered to the appropriate resorts.

It's up to each person to decide how they want to handle their baggage. If I am going to arrive much past 8pm, then I would get my own bags. It would be worth the addtl 20 mins at baggage claim to me. I hate getting bags late and having to unpack just before bed. If you arrive at 8:45pm, you bags 'should' be delivered by 11:30, maybe sooner. If you collect your bags yourself, you will arrive at your resort around 10:15ish. It takes, on average, about 70 mins from gate to resort. Add in 20 mins at baggage claim...90 mins total.

But always, pack a carryon with anything you need to start your vacation...in this case it would mean pj's for the night, toiletries and perhaps a change of clothes for the next day. Airlines do misdirect bags all the time. If your carryon bag is packed correctly, you can start your stay with no worries...and be fine until any misdirected bags get to you.

I landed at 8:30pm last year. I was traveling 3 children under the age of 6 by myself so I let ME get my bags. I already had the carry on and teh double stroller for the 2 preschoolers with me - bags and tired kids would have been so tough.

We did not get to the resort until about 9:30pm. Our bags arrived at midnight.

I alrady had the kids in bed (travled in their PJ's).

If you are traveling with kids and so on - use ME. If you can take them it will be much faster.

It truly depends on your travel situation. We have two older children so getting our own bags isn't that big of a deal. Plus, the 20 extra minutes never bothers us. But, if you have small children, then I'd recommend you just allow ME to pick up your bags. Like everyone else mentioned earlier, plan to pack at least your first 24 hours worth of needs in your carry-on because the airlines seem to be getting more and more careless with misdirecting baggage. Good luck and have a blast!

ME is great because you don't have to worry about picking up your luggage but usually it takes a while to get delivered to your room. If you were arriving during the day, I would suggest ME but since you are arriving at night I would suggest picking up your luggage. It might take a little more time but you won't regret it when you don't have to stay up worrying where your luggage is and when it will be delivered to your room.

I always have Magical Express pick up my bags. But I always arrive in the morning and head straight to the parks. So by the time im ready to get back to the hotel, my room is ready and my bags are waiting for me. However, with your late flight, I would go ahead and pick up my bags myself. Being that late I would probably head to the room anyways and would not want to wait for my things to be delivered. Have a Great Trip!!

We love ME! So convenient. Our last trip we arrived to our room at 9pm to find that one of our pieces of luggage was missing! We called the front desk and they tracked it down for us within 10 minutes. apparently the resort tag fell off, but they had it to our room in an hour! Even when a glitch does happen, they handle it well. As for arriving so late, I would personally just get my luggage myself, but good luck!

Hello, I normally also like to unpack and get settled once I get to a hotel. But our family-of-four flight lands at 11am on a Wednesday in early March. Hoping to get an early check-in at Pop, but I know that can be unpredictable.

Two questions - If I use ME for bag delivery and our room isn't ready when ME delivers to Pop, do they just sit in a luggage room somewhere and I have to go get them myself later? And if we decide to grab our own bags and Pop room isn't ready when we arrive, will Pop hold them for us in that same luggage room? Trying to decide which has more of an advantage...

The luggage will be held until a room is ready for you, THEN be delivered. If you bring your luggage with you, they are very willing for you to 'store' it there until your room is ready. Either way, it's easy.;)
