Should I give up ADRs at Le Cellier or Les Chefs?

Here's the thing: the way our schedule currently works out, we have both restaurants scheduled along with several other favorites. I have an Akershus breakfast scheduled, but I'd really like to switch it around so that it's a dinner on our arrival day. The only way I can do that would be to drop either Le Cellier or Les Chefs.

Should I drop one of them so that I can have a character meal (Akershus) our first evening at WDW? Or, should I just go ahead and leave everything the way it is and leave Akershus at the morning ADR as it is now?

I would just really like to do Akershus our first day there. ;(

I would think it would be better off dropping your Le Cellier ADR. With its conversion to a signature restaurant a lot of things are up for the air about what the menu is going to be etc. You would probably be better off letting things settle out before going there.

Askerhus is a very nice option, but I have found that Breakfast is more enjoyable than dinner, especially with the food. We did not find the food that great for Dinner time. Le Cellier has become almost impossible to get, if you cancel it, you can almost guarantee someone will snach it up. I think Le Cellier and Chefs de France are excellent options for either lunch or dinner. Both are delicious! :goodvibes

I think your plans so far are really good. Unless, their is something that you can't miss that conflicts with your current reservations, I would leave them as they are.

I hope you have a great vacation!

Thanks! I don't know why I'm stressing about this! Part of it is, I think, because we're bringing dd's best friend with us. While she's 15 and way past most of the "magic" phase, I really want to make this whole trip special for her. She's never been - and really hasn't done much traveling at all - and I'd really like to give her the opportunity to squeeze every last little bit out of it that she can.

Silly, huh? You'd think I'd be more worried about my own kids enjoying it. And I am! But, they've both been and dd's BFF never has and will likely never have this opportunity again.

IMO I would do the princess DINNER and drop France. I think the 15 year old would still be young enough to enjoy the experience and probably remember it always, especially if there is a chance she may not get to go again.

Chefs is not that hard of a ressie to obtain. I would think twice about dropping LeCellier, it's a hard one to get (even with all the negative remarks on here lately). We really prefer lunch at Chefs more.

Have a great trip.

Honestly, as someone who has visited Disney at just about every life stage so far (early, middle, older childhood, as a teen, as a college student, and now as an adult), I think the way you have the restaurants you have is great. I did the princess breakfast at Akerhaus while in college and loved it, and I think your DD and her friend will go bonkers, too. (Let's face it...the princesses NEVER get old for us girls.) I also think that the ambiance and good eats at Le Cellier will appeal to them too, and will also be a great way to kick off the trip. If it were my opportunity to show someone the ropes at Disney - especially someone at an age where they can appreciate things in a way children can't, but isn't yet an adult - I think you've done a great job :) In my mind, a character BREAKFAST has always been the quintessential Disney World experience.

Just my two cents....go with your gut if you disagree, though. Your DD and her friend will have a blast no matter what.

I think it's so sweet that you are so concerned with making sure your DD's BFF has the best experience. Because it's her first time, it will be special no matter what you do.

As for the ADR, would she and your children like the dinner food at Akershus? I had the worst dining experience at Le Chefs, both food and service. I would keep Le Cellier, but it's up to you.

If it were me, I would leave the schedule the way it is. I did not like the food at Akershus at dinner, but I loved the princess interaction. I thought my food was down right nasty, but that is my own personal opinion. I would go back for breakfast for sure, but not dinner. Being said, that's my personal opinion, my dh thought the food was great. I do think it would be nice to have a character meal the first night, BUT.... I would rather save it for breakfast for better food.

Another thing to think about is what if something happens to delay your travel time? You just never know! It eating at Akershus is on the top of your list I would save it for a full day to be sure 100 percent you will make it.
