Should I get the dining plan?

We are trying to decide whether it would be a good deal to get the dining plan vs just pay it for when we go. Right now our preliminary plans are as follows:

Arrival Day: T Rex for Dinner

First Day: Animal Kingdom
Dining Choices: Donald's Safari Breakfast and Rainforest Cafe

Second Day: Kennedy Space Center, Gatorland
Dining Choice: Arabian Nights Dinner Show

Third Day: Magic Kingdom
Dining Choices: So far just Chef Mickeys for Dinner

Fourth Day: SeaWorld
Dining Choices: Breakfast with Elmo and Dining with Shamu

Fifth Day: Hollywood Studios
Dining Choices: 50's Prime Time Cafe for Lunch and Fantasmic Dinner Package for Dinner (Haven't picked the place to eat yet)

Sixth Day: Epcot Day
Dining Choices: Coral Reef Restaurant and Akershus Royal Banquet Hall (I'm thinking for breakfast)

Seventh Day: Check Out Day...Beaches N Cream for Lunch and then hit the road home.

Now I know that I have left some things out, but these are the main places we want to eat...I'm sure my kids will be screaming for breakfast, Lunch or whatever is in between and we will have to stop and munch, but Should I get the dining package or do you think it would be cheaper to not get the dining package? We have 3 adults (My mom is going too) and 2 children. I'm not planning to do CRT this time as we wanna do the Bippity Boppity Boutique and then do CRT. It something I'm planning for December trip. I don't think I would get CRT on the dining plan anyway.

It depends. I assume you're going to be there 7 nights based on your itinerary so if you did the basic plan that would give you 7TS. Of all the Disney meals you have listed you do have 7 planned for restaurants on the dining plan so you would have the TS covered. If I were you, I would go over your itinerary to determine whether you would be able to use all 7 CS meals that would come with the basic plan. If you can't use them all, then it probably doesn't make sense. Also, I would review the menus/prices at allears to come up with an average amount you would spend at each restaurant and then compare that amount to the how much you would pay per night for the plan. See which way you come out ahead.

Dining Choices: Coral Reef Restaurant $44.00 and Akershus Royal Banquet Hall (I'm thinking for breakfast) $22.99

Seventh Day: Check Out Day...Beaches N Cream for Lunch $23.00 - Most expensive entree and dessert and then hit the road home.


Total cost for your meals (including tax) is about $210.00. DDP costs an adult about $280 for 7 nights. You need to spend about $70 on 7 CS meals and 7 Snacks. I think it could work for you. Take a look at your CS plans and see if you are going to spend that.

I was under the impression though that T-Rex would take deluxe dining plan? Can you confirm if this is true? Does that count for 1 ts or 2?

I can confirm that it definitely does not take the DDP or the DxDDP.

You may be thinking of the Premium and Platinum Plans. They are both accepted at T-Rex (as well as Victoria and Albert's) these plans start at over $100/night.
