I've been thinking about joining AAA but I'm not sure if I would use it enough to cover the cost of membership. What can you get discounts on at Disney? We already have the free dining-so we can't use the discount on our package. We were thinking about seeing La Nouba though-can you get a discount on that? Or any of the stores in Disneyworld? Any info is appreciated!

Don't know about discounts at Disney, but the first time you have a flat or a dead battery or you lock your keys in your car, you'll be glad you have it. Here in California it only costs $49 per year.

I second that!

My husband locked his keys in his car 3 times in one week. Thank God for AAA! Locksmiths are expensive!

I agree with previous poster, it pays to have it. In NC, I paid around $139 for 3 drivers with PLUS protection. I have a 16 year old driving and if he wants to go see his grandparents it is a min of 45 miles and I want him to have help. Also, my DH is travels out of state frequently with work and I am here with both of the children and it just gives us peace of mind. When we had just the basic, that it paid for itself just with hotel discounts for my husbands and the families travesl but you only get towing service for up to 3 miles. With the PLUS the towing is covered for 100 miles. So yes, I think it is worth every penny. Hope this helps.

We rarely use AAA for their actual roadside service. Although I have locked my keys in my car before. They have all kinds of "show your card and save" deals. It varies by where you are. But it's like 20% at lenscrafters, all kinds of hotel discounts, and attraction tickets. I would never be without it! I booked my Disney package through them, just to get the extra benefits...the diamond parking pass, fireworks viewing, and some other things. They don't have discount tickets for La Nouba, but if you are going to Universal, they have about the cheapest tickets I found.

Get AAA , it will pay for itself on your first resort room at Disney. I am having 3 trips this year to Disney and on all 3 trips I have saved over $300 per trip on room only. Plus you have all the other benefits. If you are a room only person for your vacation at Disney ,you will be pleased at your saving. I expecially like the saving I got at the deluxe. I use it all the time in my travels. So yes, its worth the money.

Disney only allows AAA discounts on rooms only or room packages.

No restaurants, stores, etc.

I'd wait till you decide to take another trip, but a code may be a better deal for you next time as well.

herc.

Our rental car battery went dead in the Universal parking garage at 6pm. No one in Universal would help us even security walked us to a payphone. AAA had someone there within the hour. It was such a blessing to see a smiling face as we were sitting there in the garage with a baby and two small kids. I'll never be without it! I believe you also get a discount in the restaurants at Universal but I don't know about Disney. I never thought to ask.

It is also handy if you ever have to be towed!!!!

My 1 year utilization of my AAA card:
2 tows
1 flat tire change
15 free maps
$150 saved on my Flat Screen TV
$400+ saved on non WDW hotels
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

We joined AAA for the purpose of booking our Disney trip a couple years ago. We saved a few hundred bucks, so we basically made a profit on joining - I think membership is 78/year for the 2 of us.

Then we were up for AAA renewal. I thought MAYBE we didn't really need it any more because we didn't have any trips planned.

One day I was picking up my daughter and came to the parking lot to find I had a flat. That was covered. A few weeks later, my battery died and the guy came to our house to give me a jump. Covered.

Needless to say, we have kept our membership current. We also took another Disney trip about 6 months ago and saved another few hundred bucks there.

The membership covers you no matter who's car you're in....doesn't limit you in that.

If you travel to other cities, many hotels offer AAA discounts as well.

This is one of those things where someone might not want to join because they don't think anything will ever happen. All it takes is just ONE thing to happen to make a membership worthwhile. :)

Yes, if you can afford it, get it. I originally got it for a Disney discount, but have used it for other hotels, discounts at stores, at Universal park, and to have my car jumped when I had a dead battery. It is something we will keep and not just for Disney.

:confused3 Fireworks Viewing??? Is this something I was not informed of? Do you have any more details?

Just so you know - we saved $400 right off the top booking with AAA, then the other day I got a pin code :cloud9: for free dining and it was applied to my current reservation for a total of close to $800 savings. So, you can apply Disney pin codes to your AAA reservations!

To OP: We paid $66 for the 2 of us for our yearly membership. I have even used my card to have a friend's car jumped. I wasn't even riding with her, I had my own car, but we came out to her car being dead. The tow truck driver's don't care who's car it is, as long as someone is a AAA card holder!

In the first newsletter they sent us they had a write up about Disney discounts... let's just say: the seed was planted!!!

Bottom line: WELL worth the money!:thumbsup2

yeah, it came with our package. I think it somewhere over by the Plaza restaurant. You have a voucher to get in, I think. Can't give definitive details, because I haven't actually seen it yet, just read about it in the materials. There is also a storytime you can do only for AAA members. Have to book in advance. With my package it also said there were some shopping discounts in DTD, but not sure what those are yet either.

You can get discounts at the outlet malls with your card too. Plus, if you go to any other amusement park, attraction anywhere, there are usually discounts.

Sweet!!! Thanks for the info! I will have to inquire with my TA

With two older model cars, I have easily recouped my yearly membership fee several times over for the last few years. Two winters ago, AAA jumped the battery twice and towed one car to the garage for repairs--in the space of 3 weeks:goodvibes I was a very good customer:rotfl:

I use AAA discounts for rental cars when traveling and for discounted movie tickets, too.
