Should I Get A GAC?

I forgot all about this until just now. When we went to DL last summer, I rented a scooter for the entire length of stay and wore shorts that came just below the knees. After our first day in the park, the lower part of my legs, from the knees down, started to itch really bad. The next morning they were swollen and felt burned. It took me a few hours to figure out what was going on. One of the side affects of a medication I take makes my skin super sensitive to the sun. What I had was a really bad case of hives! It wasn't until I got home that my blotchy, swollen legs, got back to normal.

It's usually my arms that get it, but because my legs were stretched out on the scooter, they were exposed all day long. I did use sunscreen, but it doesn't always work on my arms, and I'm sure that was the case with my legs. I always wear a full brimmed hat so my face doesn't get the exposure but have to be extra careful.

Yeah... I could wear long pants, but I sure don't want to. Are there a lot of queues where you have to be in direct sunlight for long periods?

Are you going to DL or WDW? In WDW almost all queues are shaded or indoors. I too need to avoid too much direct sunlight and I had no problems in WDW. There are a couple queues outside, and a couple accessible queues relocated outdoors (BTMRR for example), but I really did not run into too many problems. You can always speak to Guest Services if you get concerned.

In DL there are many more things outdoors, but I am not sure if DL's GAC will help with waiting out of the sun, since so many of the attractions are uncovered (one of the benefits of the desert is no torrential downpours!). Perhaps a DL expert can come along and help!

I agree that you won't really have much problem with attractions at WDW.
Most are pretty well shaded or even inside.

You will have more problems with the sun as you are moving between attractions. A GAC won't help with those situations.
