I thought doing fondue would be fun for the kids........i don't have a fondue pot, but I do have a crockpot. does the crock keep it warm enough? or is it worth it to just get the fondue pot?
the recipes i looked at say to cook on the stove then pour into the fondue pot to keep warm, i always thought everything went right into the fondue pot!
LOL

Which type of fondue....meat, cheese or chocolate?

Buy a fondue pot. They are fun. Are you just doing Cheese or Chocolate fondues? Or will you be doing an Oil or Broth fondue on occasion? If so, you might want to get an electric one and a candle or burner one. We have and electric we have used for Cheese and a simple ceramic one with a tea light for chocolate.

I think Wally Mart has an electric one for around $30.00. The can go up considerably from there.

Mostly cheese and chocolate, maybe occasionally chicken , fish, the kids and I don't eat meat but hubby does.
i saw a rival one on amazon for$30

I would buy one...we enjoy ours!

We have an older metal one...with a sterno for meat fondue. I know that you used to have to use a ceramic pot for the cheese/chocolate.... I don't know about the newer pots.
My folks had one with an electric burner....they thought you could regulate the heat better....but I prefer the sterno....

It is a fun relaxing meal.... how old are your kids....of course you have to be careful of the hot oil/cheese/chocolate with young children...

enjoy...

well thats one thing, my 7 yo dd would be fine, but i would have to oversee my 4 yo ds........i would be right next to him, i wouldn't let him do it alone.
