Our family is spending most our time at Universal this trip( doing Epcot for one day)but wanted to see what the AKL was like. We may want to do this lodge for a week next year and want to check it out. The day we need reservations for they only have the queen deluxe concierge available because of our size party(5). We are not AP holders or anything and the cost would be $480 + 11 1/2% tax. I realize I could purchase an AP since we may go next year but don't know if I want to spend even more money not knowing if we're really going within that year time frame. We would not do any of the parks this day but would just like to take in all the atmosphere and use the concierge as our meals for the day. Would this be worth it and what else would there be to do on the property other than watching the animals and swimming.

Hi - staying at AKL concierge sounds like a good plan - sorry there are no lower rates for you right now. Are you a AAA Member?

About the food - please don't count on the concierge lounge offerings as your "meals for the day"

Breakfast definately - there are lots of choices and everyone could have a nice continental breakfast.

There is no lunch - trail mix, cashews. gummi bears... thats it.

Tea - around 3:30pm there is tea,cookies& scones -

5:30pm Appetizers - they do have hot and cold appetizers - but this is to give concierge guests a light appetizer - it would not be dinner for 5 people

If you ate enough to make it a full dinner - there would be nothing left for the the other guests  (unless you guys are really light eaters)

There is Boma the buffet restaurant that you could book for your party for dinner, or JIKO the fine dining restaurant. There is also a food court with fast foods.

Hope you sort your plans out - AKL is a gorgeous hotel.

Thanks for your help. Still not sure if we'll do this. Can hardly justify spending that kind of money. We probably would end up eating at one of their restaurants(another $100 at least). Maybe I should save it as a surprise for next year!!
