Should I change resorts?

In a bit of a bind and hope you can help. There are 6 of us traveling (2A and 4C) and we will need two rooms. Here is what I have so far:

Currently booked at RPR in a water view room with a military rate of $223 first night and $209 second night. The downside to this reservation is that we cannot have connecting rooms (although first reservation agent said they could be requested, second agent said there weren't any connecting water view rooms :confused3). The agent did say that we could request adjacent rooms.

Option 1: Stick with current reservation at RPR and hope for the best with room assignment. My boys could stay in one room and DH, DD and I in the other. Or DH and I split up.

Option 2: Move to Portofino. Rates there are $240 and $226 (so an increase of $68 total for both rooms). Here, we could get guaranteed connecting rooms. Could even get a King/2 Queen connection. We have stayed here before and liked it well enough. However, it is a bit of a farther walk to the parks. Not sure the theme will really appeal to the kids.

Option 3: Move to HRH. Cost is the same as Portofino but without the option of King/ 2 Queen connection. We have stayed here as well, but DH wasn't really thrilled with the resort, although I am sure the kids would love it and it is closer to the parks.

What should we do?

What should we do?

We had waterview connecting 2Q rooms at RPR in February. They most certainly exist. I would probably just keep that and request with a very nice fax and phone call a week or so before you go.

I should have said the first agent said I couldn't get "guaranteed" connecting rooms with the water view (they would guarantee the connecting in a standard room but there wasn't a military rate for those rooms :confused3). The first agent said we could request them. The second agent said they didn't exist. Good to know they do! :thumbsup2

Who do I call or fax?

TIA!

There is a fax number and a phone number on the Loews website for each individual hotel.

There aren't a lot of hotels that will guarantee you connecting rooms.

if your children are young, you won't have an issue in getting those connecting rooms.

call the hotel and make sure it is in your file.

Thanks everyone! Talked to DH and he thinks we should stay with RPR. He is tempted by Portofino, but I don't know if it will really appeal to the kids.

The kids 13, 11, 8 and 2.

since they are minors, you will be listing one adult in each room.
with having littles, i doubt you will be denied your request.

they would not let you have 4 minor children in a room by themselves.

call directly to the hotel and make sure you get the name of the TM you discuss this with.

have it listed in your file of the necessity of having connecting rooms.

usually the list of guests for rooms are sent to one coordinator 5 dates prior to the arrival of the guests.

your file will be included for your need.
the one assigning rooms will be aware of that then.

also, call back a couple of days prior to your arrival to make sure your request has been honored.

Also, keep calling for the standard room military rate. New rooms do show up from time to time when previously not available.
