Should I change my dates?

This will be our first trip to Disney for me, hubby, and children ages 6 and 9. We booked for 11/19-11/25 but am considering changing this to 12/10 - 12/16 because of crowds. Will it make a huge difference in our Disney experience. I would love to hear from the voice of experience - should we change our reservation?

Thanks,
Elizabeth

If the availablilty is there I would change dates....should be lower crowds and Xmas seson is in full swing....absolutely the most beautiful time! Remember there is a promotion for that time as well!

Especially since it is the first trip, I would change the dates - nothing will impact your experience as positively as going at a less crowded time

Note the weather will be somewhat cooler and the days shorter (only downsides I see)

I agree DEc lower crowds that week. I'll be there then. :Pinkbounc

My hubby doesn't want to risk cooler weather. Plus, he said it is easier to just keep the reservations we have. I am hoping it won't be so crowded as to be a bad experience for the family. He, at least this way I won't have to cook Thanksgiving dinner for extended family.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Hi Everyone,

I have not been to DW since 1991. My hubby is taking me for my 40th birthday/second honeymoon. Please advise if this is a good time to visit. Also we like to wing it and did not make dinner reservations. Do we need to do that??

THANKS!!!

I would definately switch! Thanksgiving crowds are BIG!

Thanks for the great weather link. I moved back our trip from 12/3 to 12/10 and was really worried I risked colder weather because of it. I know anything can happen weatherwise in December, but I'm really hoping my DS 6 can swim. Looks like the first two weeks of December run parallel weather wise. Trying to miss some of those Pop Warner crowds. :cheer2:

I see you decided to stick to your original dates, but I would absolutely move my dates. Thanksgiving is a ZOO! We were there the week before Thanksgiving week (NO crowds at all) in 2004 - left the Saturday you are arriving. The difference from Friday (no crowds) to Saturday (getting crazy) was unbelievable. As Thanksgiving week goes on, it gets busier and busier. Sure, you can have a nice time, but lower crowds absolutely make a first time trip WAY more enjoyable. If Dec. doesn't work for DH, then maybe the week before you have planned would be better. The weather was extremely pleasant the week before Thanksgiving week in 2004, although I wouldn't say it was hot. It cooled off in the afternoon and we got chilly at the waterpark. Never needed a sweatshirt that I recall though.

Whatever you decide, have a good trip!!

Thanks for the advice. We are now considering the week before Thanksgiving week. I am waiting to hear if my hubby can change his vacation dates. Ho hum, indecision!

We will now be there Nov 12 - 18. Now I have to change all of my dinner reservations and start over on planning.

Thanks everyone.
